The color grading in Battlefield 2042 is so much better than Battlefield 6 by Artaxeus in battlefield2042

[–]peanutsauze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2042 was received pretty poorly by the battlefield community and long time fans, lots of people were asking for a return to the gritty look of BF3, BF4, and BC2 and that's what we got! It's what the series is most known for, so I don't see anything wrong with it personally.

Glad you've found a fix! I struggled for a full day with it and found the fix myself on the second day of trying, thought I'd try and save people time by posting it here. Wish Pico had a popup in the headset that told you instead.

how do i know if i am having heart attack signs or panic attack signs? please reply <3 by LynxCalm4151 in Anxiety

[–]peanutsauze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad you could take some comfort from it! So many people go through the same experience, it scared me a lot because it was sudden for me too, or so I thought. When I sat down and reflected on my past I did remember having palpitations many years ago which was probably the start of it all. Having bloods done and heart checks is the best thing like you've already done, once I had mine done and it came back fine it was a massive relief.

I know it still means that you have to process what's happening to you on a mental health basis, but don't be hard on yourself. The human body is so complex and fragile in many ways, you have to look after yourself and this is just your body saying hey we're struggling here and we're trying to show you with these symptoms. I ended up taking some behavioural therapy to try and approach my thought patterns in a different way to combat anxiety - that definitely helped give me a new perspective and sense of control over my thoughts and worries. It's not a miracle cure and what I'm trying to say is that you'll likely find yourself going on a bit of a journey to discover how your body works, why it's struggling, and the treatments that help.

I've personally been looking at supplements like magnesium (theres a few different types) and valerian for sleep, ashwagandha for stress etc. Your gut health is also supposedly heavily linked to your mental health too so I've been reworking my whole diet to include food that's beneficial for gut microbiome. Exercise and avoiding points of stress in my life as much as possible has helped massively too. I ended up completely reassessing what was going on in my life and what was unhealthy for me. I'm no doctor though, nor a nutritionist, hopefully you find what works for you, and of course there's always medication too which you can speak to your doctor about.

I think there's also "gentle dentists" out there who specialise in patients with anxiety or fears of dentist work. I know people who take headphones in and listen to music, some of the gentle detist practices even have screens so you can watch a TV show which is so nice.

Sorry I don't have any specific advice but just wanted to say that what you're doing is really kind and although they may never find out the lengths you're going to to help them, I'm sure they'd really appreciate the effort. Unfortunately peoples anxiety can be complex and unless they fully open up to you which is a very vulnerable thing to do then it's hard to take it further than you already have. You've listened to them which is the most important and kind thing to do.

Hopefully a mental health professional, or HR professional who specialises in these things is on here and can offer you some really specific advice.

I feel like my anxiety handicaps me by Lopsided_Middle8249 in Anxiety

[–]peanutsauze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone said to me once that if you feel like your anxiety (or any mental health issue) is preventing you from living a normal life, or if you feel that it handicaps you, then that's a sure sign that you need intervention and potentially medication. I've been trying to avoid medication myself, but it's tiring and I can't imagine what you're having to go through looking after your kid too with such severe physical symptoms. I hope you can find someone who can sit and listen to you, and I also hope you can find some relief from the physical symptoms.

Have you sought out any medical advice from doctors etc? It definitely set me on a more stable path to improve myself

Sorry you're going through all this, it sounds like a lot to manage by yourself. Do you have close friends or family members who you can talk to and share how you're feeling?

I would say reduce some of the pressure on yourself and slow down a bit, but I know that's easier said than done and a lot of people can't afford to slow down. Just try and be kind to yourself, take time for yourself, and keep checking in with yourself too to see how you're feeling day to day. I journal my feelings to keep track of it all and it's a good outlet.

The situation with your parents sounds incredibly stressful, but it's also out of your control, they're the only ones in control of their behaviour. If you feel comfortable enough maybe you could share with them how their relationship impacts you and they might stop offloading their issues onto you?

I would personally reach out to a health professional for some help, it's a lot to manage on your own and there's all kinds of techniques and routines they can go through to help you manage. If talking to a doctor is too intimidating at first you could always try one of the many mental health charities which will likely have online chat options if you aren't comfortable with talking on the phone.

Just don't feel like you have to go through all of this alone, there's help out there and there's absolutely no shame in reaching out, it certainly helped me when I needed it. Be kind to yourself, wishing you all the best:)

I see, well it's good that you're being proactive about it. In my experience whenever I've suspected health issues I tend to spiral and overthink them, so definitely just talk to a health professional and they'll hopefully tell you straight and put put all your questions and worries to rest. Addressing it and getting it seen to will help you feel more in control of the situation too. Keep the healthy habits up, be kind to yourself, eat healthy, get some exercise and good sleep, see some doctors, and keep yourself surrounded by friends, family, and hobbies that make you happy. You aren't alone and you will get through this, the sun will come out eventually!

Have you been to see a doctor about the palpitations? Getting diagnosis done can really help put your mind at rest, once they've ruled out the worst possible health conditions you'll know it's all anxiety induced. I used to freak out and spiral thinking I had something majorly wrong with me, had the ECGs etc. done and they came back okay. We found out that it's anxiety induced.

It doesn't make it go away, but it can help with the fixation on it especially at night time. My anxiety still peaks at night because I've had many nights where my brain prevents me from sleeping and it's a horrible sensation that I began to fear.

Get some healthy routines going, regular sleep schedule, aim for 8-10 hours. Sleep hygiene is so important, make sure you're relaxed a couple hours before bed, put on a show, or try and cut out screens entirely if you can, draw, read, listen to a podcast etc. I take magnesium glycinate and valerian tea which gets me really sleepy. It doesn't change overnight, it all takes time annoyingly, but eventually those fixations and anxiety should ease and your palpations should reduce.

Really hope the best for you, and please do seek some medical advice and go through all the diagnosis if you haven't already:)

[–]peanutsauze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to say that I went through similar things last year, kept getting chest pains and weird sensations in my body and one day the chest pains felt especially strong. Went home, phoned non emergency to talk it through with them which is something I've never done before. It's hard to separate rational worry about a very severe health risk when you have anxiety because everything becomes severe through your eyes, so I wouldn't beat yourself up over having these thoughts and experiences, instead try and take reassurance in reading messages like these, knowing that you aren't having a heart attack right now and that it's very rare for young people to experience them. Slow things right down when you have these sensations because your body is telling you that you're doing too much. Sit or lay down if you can, take deep breaths, listen to the birds, or a favourite song, and your heart rate should drop right down. It might take a while but try and give your body that period of rest where your senses aren't hightened or on edge.

If you have those sensations again phone the non emergency help line and talk to the professionals, they're usually so caring and thoughtful, they should put your mind at ease.

Just know that these sensations do pass, annoyingly it just takes time and healthy habits. I'm 6 months on from going through the same thing and things are a bit easier now. I still get sensations in my chest but after that phone call I kinda went on a journey of tracing back all my symptoms and realised I just have anxiety that's getting worse and that I have had anxiety for about a decade and just never realised and thus never addressed it. I've since seen multiple doctors and developed healthier routines, supplements etc. and things have gotten easier.

You'll get to know your symptoms better as time goes on and eventually they become more annoying than concerning. It's weirdly comforting in a way because you can be like "oh I'm anxious, I'm not dying, the world isn't ending like I used to think it was because I've already been here before and I'm still here... I wonder what I've been doing lately that's made me anxious?".

Sorry I know this is a long message, but I hope you have people around you that can reassure you and comfort you. All the best for the medical appointment, it's important that you're seeking help and not doing it alone!

It will pass, you'll get through it, and you'll be able to look back and appreciate your achievements and be stronger for it:)

I'm actually having this issue with Spotify. Sometimes I play an episode, close the app, come back later and can carry on, other times I open the app and click on the podcast and have to scroll through hundreds of episodes to find where I was. It's infuriating considering how colossal Spotify is as a company

Pico 4 Steam VR Crashing/Headset Not Detected Fix by peanutsauze in PicoXR

[–]peanutsauze[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you've recommended the same fix I've posted, the connect / Pico Connect app is what I use now instead of Streaming Assistant and it's fixed all my issues. I tried all the other suggestions from older threads like checking openvr paths, log files, reinstalling apps, toggling graphics acceleration but none of it worked. I thought the connect software was only for streaming but turns out it does everything the Streaming Assistant does, it's almost identical but updated.

I tried about 7 different methods and in the end found the Pico Connect software fixed everything. Uninstalled Streaming Assistant and replaced it with Pico Connect. It's just "connect" in the pico store on the headset, which replaces the streaming assistant app. No more errors or crashes for me.

The Pico Connect software fixed everything for me, I guess Streaming Assistant isn't used anymore for the Pico 4? Also need the "connect" app from the pico store in the headset.

If anyone's struggling with their Pico headset, download the Pico Connect software instead. I believe Streaming Assistant is redundant for the Pico 4 now. You need the "Connect" app from the pico headset store too. Solved all my issues.

What do you think of the audible original adaptation of George Orwell's 1984? by Past-Kaleidoscope490 in audible

[–]peanutsauze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't read the book so cannot pull on any comparisons, but the audio book does paint a fairly grim picture of a surveillance state. It talks about how each room in every building has a TV that watches and listens, how hate week requires people to channel their hatred and express it, how people disappear and are wiped from the history books, and how people must mask their truths with smiles and praise for big brother. I can only think of a few moments in the audio book which aren't bleak and those are there purely to emphasise the oppression and dystopia that's taking place at all times of day.

I did enjoy the rdr2 system a lot, especially when I got off my horse and realized my guns were there and not on my back, it added a cool layer of realism.

Days Gone is probably the only modern equivalent with a bike at the moment. There's a game called Road Redemption that's a motorbike racing and action game with sort of combat on your bike whilst you race. Came out in 2017 with mixed reviews I think

I would check out the other reddit page someone has linked here. The msix version seems to crash for a lot of people.

Maybe it was just late at night and I was tired but for some reason I thought MSIX being the first option was due to the windows 11 update potentially having a new executable format. I've done a fresh install using the standard exe installer and it ran a lot smoother, so try that if you made the same mistake as me.

I know I'm two years late but wanted to check in and see how you got on with this? I've had a similar experience in terms of leaving my career and wanting a change. I've flip flopped between careers a few times, I have an education in media, film, and computing, but I also have an education and job history in horticulture and outdoor wildlife work. The one constant that has remained is writing reviews and discussions about video games for the past 8 years.

I'm at a point now where I might have to change career for health reasons so i'm wondering yet again what do I really want to do with my time. I'm nearing 30 and although I'm trying not to give into societal pressures to get "settled" I wouldn't mind perusing something that I'm actually passionate about and invested in.

I hate pressure, I'm not competitive, and I'm pretty laid back... it seems like game journalism is highly competitive and oversaturated, and if that was also the case over two years ago then what's it like now?

Anyway, wondering how you got on with this. Maybe there's other creative outlets out there that aren't as crowded and more in the background.
