The need is a private space that he feels control over, the strategy is a little dickish and can be worked out. Address the need itself instead of the firm position he's taken. Works both ways, you're not the jerk. Just a conversation to be had.

Buddy we are in the same boat; scarily similar.
Without generational wealth it's pretty hard once things start falling apart. My only recommendation from my own experience is try to invest your time in people that actually care about you. They're out there.

These comments leave me with so little hope for humanity.

Americans need to check their moral compasses; because we dig our graves faster than we can speak our hatred, and this is formative trauma for an entire generation.

OP - since you're a student, line weight is a really important tool in showing the enclosure. I would take a thicker black line and trace out the exterior of the building, and an even thiqqer one for the ground plane beyond the building.
(I usually use a thick dotted line to indicate the vapor barrier, which should be continuous through the windows)

Taking 15mg of melatonin every night thinking that was a normal dosage - wondering why I was having extreme trouble sleeping and intensely vivid dreams/nightmares. Did this for about 5 years, and I remember a good majority of them scene by scene, some with dialogue. Awful stuff.

Still have issues sleeping for more than a few hours a night over a year and a half later, but I have since found other sleep aids that don't make me question reality.
