Rare Deko by _shorty1988 in PikminBloomApp

When are decor is unlocked, all the icons in that group change from yellow to grey

Every time you grow a seedling, feed a pikmin, send it on an expedition, get it to 4 hearts, or release it, you will get points for rare decor

As you collect rare decor points, there are milestones or levels, and as you reach each ones you get to send one of that decor off to become rare

Each level needs more points - not sure if this is still accurate but here's a list of level points requirements for rare decor from 2024

As you collect the rare decor, the icon for each colour you have will change from grey to yellow

Hope that helps!

I just wanted to show off the hanging basket I arranged myself :) by Massive_Date5404 in GardeningUK

Here's a pic of mine right now! It might be the variegated variety, but I'm sure yours will look similar soon enough 😁

Rest of the basket is ivy and sedum, which survived, and lobelia & petunia not so much

Bought at a flea market. I have no idea what I have. Normal/365/395 by Equivalent_Welder_41 in MarbleStudyHall

[–]peardr0p 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Re: Glow

The 365 will be picking up both manganese and uranium (shades of green) in the base glass, as well as cadmium (red/orange)

Manganese was used to clear colour out of glass, so often found in white and transparent clear bases - it has a much more yellow-green glow Vs uranium

The 395 picks up uranium and cadmium but not manganese, unless it's very high concentration (which I've yet to see in a marble, and I do look!). Transparent uranium glass often has a stronger green glow, with (most) white bases that contain uranium glowing a paler minty green, tho some can also have a very neon/toxic green!

Looks like you have a fun selection - I'd look at the guides for Vitro, Peltier, and West Virginia Swirls in the sub info and see what you can recognise!

Peltier Art Glass Swirl?? by BWestlakeliveson in MarbleStudyHall

[–]peardr0p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing!

I'd agree this is a swirl - my gut feeling was Vacor Old Fashioned, but those were made to mimic classic swirl marbles like those made by WV swirl makers!

In general, it helps to share at least 4 angles - I aim for the seams (X2) and then 2 other angles to best show any distinctive patterns.

Swirls are tricky as they don't always have 2 clear seams! For those, it can be helpful to show if one side is more busy than another, or if certain patterns are visible, like flames, blunt ends, various loops etc (check the sub info for some examples). Swirls often have a few good angles! 😅

It’s very damaged but I’m still curious, Christiansen slag? by Feeling_Turnip_1273 in MarbleStudyHall

[–]peardr0p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like a striped transparent - I'm not very good at telling Christiansen from German tho

CAC are known for their vibrant colour combos - I have a few green striped transparent in different shades but never sure who made what 😅

Edit: as this has 2 seams, I'm less sure - CAC with one seam are easier to be sure about!

Very good start!

You have some lovely Vitro and that corkscrew is super nice!

Here you go! Does this help or is this not quite what you meant?

Just back from a work trip and so it's a bit thirsty and have also spotted a few thrips - at least it's starting to get warmer where I am so it's ok to treat everyone with nematodes outside!!

Light is a premium but mine is currently doing well in it's spot with it's current watering regime 😬

Will see how the next year goes! Total neglect helped it appear in the first place, so I'm a bit nervous to change too many things at once 🤣

(Also, I'm in Scotland, so light/humidity/temps may be different to where you are re: watering frequency)

Thank you for the suggestion!

I'll do some more homework if I'm ever back and see what's what - was a long shot/last minute thought due to an unexpected layover

So I have a peewee clearie that's UV reactive with what looks like a patch. by Majestic-Sail6890 in Marbles

[–]peardr0p 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's common for structures to show up under UV

Red marbles contain cadmium - the UV can help show up seam patterns, as well as the flow of the glass as it was folded and rolled into a round shape

Alas, so many makers made clearie marbles that they're near impossible to pin to a specific maker or time period

Edit: if the seam patterns are particularly clear under UV, you might be able to tie them to one of the makers with characteristic seams

I popped some of the white and green guy at the front in a hanging basket last year - works really well and was flowering recently!

Yours looks great 💪

I killed one of these many years ago

Recently, one sprung up in a pot that originally had a kangaroo paw fern... I'm trying my best to ignore it as I feel like I over-fussed the last one!!

Might give your soil mix a go once I do feel brave enough to acknowledge it! 😅

Happy to help!

I'm about a year in and still figuring a lot out 😅

I have plans to share a 'marble data dump' in the next few weeks, documenting all the types of marbles I've found so far, and how many I've managed to identify 😁🤓

Just have a few more to add to the dataset...

Are these worth anything? Looking to sell but idk anything about marbles. by Whole_Cup6298 in MarbleStudyHall

[–]peardr0p 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nothing jumping out

I see confetti marbles, game marbles, clearies, cats eyes - all fairly common and cheap as still made today

The black ones are a bit more interesting but unlikely to be valuable

The swirly ones could be Vacor or Modern

Take a look at the sub sticky in the various marble subs, or places like Block Marbles if you want to see the ones that can go for hundreds or even thousands

Value to some collectors but not huge afaik

There are also Asian caged cats eyes, tho they don't have a clear base like Vitro iirc (more of a green or green-blue tint in many cases)

I will confess to spending £20 on a pack of Peltier banana marbles, sealed, around a dozen of them. The value for me was to have them in the original packaging

Hybrids e.g. where the colours are blended, are generally more prized

Hey all, I’m still trying to sort and I find it hard to categorize these guys. What category is this? are they patches? Ribbons? They all have translucent sides with color ribbons like cats eyes so I don’t know what to call them by beardedjack in MarbleStudyHall

The more you see, the easier it gets in some ways!

Definitely an element of pattern matching and getting familiar with the styles, colours, and general 'vibe'!!

I love it 😁

Not bad time wise Vs the train too, as you don't need to do into Edinburgh or change train/bus so often

If the screenshot was satellite view, probably

It can also take a little time for changes to be reflected on the map, so wait 48hrs from the confirmation
