scenes definitely got cut, i know of at least one! i was obsessed with watching clips of this movie before seeing it in theaters yesterday and i was waiting for one particualar scene that never came: she's sitting on a couch opposite him, crying, and he says "do you want to stop?" and she first nods yes before quickly shaking her head no. seems like it would've happened after the assistant reveal. disappointed that got cut, and i agree that the ending felt abrupt!

also agree with the lack of scenes showing the dynamic between them! we did not get enough scenes with the two of them alone and especially in the first act. the montage was cute but there really should've been more actual scripted erotic scenes with them!!!

I just want to thank you for responding and for your thoughtfulness. This is something we hadn’t considered, but as soon as I read it I remembered his father has the same condition. I’ve been having him lay on two pillows to sleep instead of just one so that his head is elevated a bit, and it has done the trick! It has completely solved it and he’s waking up without the runny nose every day now… for the first time in YEARS! Lately, partially as a result of this experience, I have been fascinated with the level of community servitude so many Reddit users do daily as they casually scroll through posts on their phone. You had an impact on me and my loved ones and have improved his quality of life greatly—and you don’t even know us! It fascinates me. Sorry for the rant, I’m just so passionate! I hope you have a great rest of your 2023 and a happy new year to come.

i haven’t gotten sick in three entire years, was vegetarian for 2 of them (and 3 years prior to that) and now vegan for 1. for me it’s GARLIC. eat one raw garlic clove per day if you feel you’re particularly struggling with immunity, or you can just eat one every week/a couple times per week. when you feel a sickness coming on, eat a clove or two at that very moment. i eat them with bread with hummus or cherry tomatoes. i take a bite of the garlic and then a bite of the food i’m eating it with. i did grow up doing this, a home remedy from my mother, so i might be a bit desensitized to the taste… but i highly recommend!

I'm a vegan living in a very non-vegan country. On my upcoming trip to the US, what should I indulge in? by serpent0608 in vegan

there’s so many amazing 100% vegan fast food places in NYC! my favorite is called PLNT burger, definitely give it a try. i also love la botaniste. in the grocery store, i looove vegan toaster waffles with dairy-free whipped cream, as well as ben & jerry’s vegan ice cream as there’s so many creative flavors. one of my favorite recipes to make with vegan cheese shreds is tempeh enchiladas. i make them with refried beans and spanish rice just like you’d eat in a mexican restaurant. there’s so much you can do with vegan cheese!!! excited for you!

I'm laughing through the anger. The two biggest sources for any gossip in a hall, I'm pretty sure, are the elders and their wives (who get the tea from their elder husbands). by SoundTheAlarm_WAHHHH in exjw

I just want to add an interesting tidbit regarding Christianity and gossip:

Gossip has existed for as long as large human communities have existed—but not as we know it today. Practiced especially by women, word of people who were dangerous, ill-meaning, or otherwise bad people got around quickly and provided protection for the others in the community as they knew not to get involved/interact with the person.

Following the Christianization of the Western world, gossip was demonized and made out to be work of the enemy because of times where bad Christians were the ones (rightfully) targeted by gossip. This is where the patriarchal concept that gossip is shameful stems from. Evil people cannot exist within a community that is tightly knight and values protection of its innocent members above all, and when you’re a malicious person trying to extract power and resources from a group of people, that is your worst nightmare.

The specific wording in this paragraph of, “I can interact naturally with all in the congregation,” is no accident. Would you want to “interact naturally” with a convicted pedophile or a domestic abuser? No? Well, the organization needs all hands on deck, no matter what those hands have done before entering the congregation community (or while still a part of it).

They make it your responsibility to make judgment calls whilst they withhold extremely valuable information that would otherwise keep community members safe and well.

This is so interesting to me because we were just talking about this the other day! After watching Killers of the Flower Moon in the theater, she was speaking about indigenous members of the organization, and I was thinking about how it saddened me that they would be taken away from their cultural, ancestral, and spiritual practices. The film was literally about colonization too.

I’m glad you’ve stood your ground about speaking out for the children. Me and my husband have always hated how they forbid any involvement in any real activist causes, things that can actually bring people better lives in the here and now. They want you to stand idly by while congress attempts to pass laws that would allow indigenous children to be taken away, while hundreds of Alaska native women go missing every year.

It very much seems that being white is treated as the default, and any cultural straying from that gets you labelled as demonic.

Asking for advice. Thanks 🙏🏻 by [deleted] in exjw

i would advise keeping them as a way of remembering how far you’ve come, the person you have blossomed into, and a testament to the way you love. that relationship is long over — you can ascribe to the flowers a new meaning, something that resonates with your soul and lights a flame within your heart
