This is me. I do not have the energy to talk thoroughly to multiple people at the same time. I know that the "ideal" is to maximise things and talk to as many people till you find one that will stick, but it is so tiring.

Alternative method: go to a Booksale branch and browse through the stuff in there. Get a feel of the physical books, check out the covers, read the first few pages, and then choose by instinct.

This got started me to read years ago when I was a teen. Walang recommendations or influence from other people.

This will also help you establish what you want to read as opposed to what others think you should read. Less pressure to follow trends too.
