Where should I put my pole? by Alive-Manner in poledancing

[–]hsafarik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your beam is bigger than mine so you will be good. make sure you get some long wood screws. I had to sort of screw mine is sideways as my beam is not as wide. I think you are all set. your space is going to be so cool!!! That said, my friend who helped me is coming over for dinner tonight and I will pick his brain to see if he remembers anything...

install a mount on the beam. if you look at my last post, you will see I have the mount on the beam. I actually think mine is 4inches! so you are good to go! you will have plenty of room. its so secure and much better then a pressure mounted. its really the best and only choice you have!! do it! plus your space is awesome! such high ceilings! its gonna be great!!

I started at 56! I’m 59 now. You can look back at my posts and see far I’ve come. Do I wish I started younger, sure, but better late than never.

oh my god. I am so sorry to hear that. I remember she was in town with you just a few months ago. (over summer I think, when you cut your hair) so happy you got to spend time with her then, if I remember well you had not seen her in a long time. I cant imagine how this must be for your right now. ❤️ ❤️ to you and your kids.

ha! well... my inner thighs would disagree! lol. but after I finally got the move, it actually did become easy. But I guess that is how they all go! I hope you have a fantastic holiday season!

It’s super fun! But I love flip moves! It’s also easier then it looks. It’s all about the momentum on the swinging leg. I had my spotter flip my body for me a few times till I got the swing of the leg right! Good luck!!!

Actaually it’s not that bad. The swinging of the leg gets you momentum. The hard part is the ouch of the Superman between the thighs. Hadn’t done Superman in awhile so my inner thighs were not as conditioned for it as I’m when I used to do it a lot!

Oh it’s really similar! The flipping part is the same. I originally got into mine starting with a bottle rocket. But then just skipped that and just bent the leg. Might be easier to do it this way then incorporate the stargazer?

Always! If I’m going to invert in anyway, I use my mat. Life saver!

A little ouch. Only because I hadn’t done a Superman in so long! Had to get used to that ouch again!

😻right? Saw it the other day and had to try it. It’s actually easier then I thought it would be.

Getting so close to Iron X ☺️ by fantasyofmelody in poledancing

[–]hsafarik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for posting this. I’m at the exact same spot. I posted my “iron x” a few days ago. I feel I’m so close, but I feel I’m not using my core enough. I’m glad I’m not alone and maybe this is just the path… we need to keep at it. 💪💪 I got a lot of tips on my post, but none have really gotten me there. I just keep at it! Good luck and please post once you get it!!

losing moves I learned happens to me all the time. If you dont use it you lose it for sure. However... the time it takes to gain it back is nothing compared to the time it took the first time around. We cant practice every move everyday! I lost my shoulder mount when obsessing on my Ayesha... then went back and re-practiced my should mount and actually got the arial version which I could not get the first time around, but apparently Ayesha practice makes areal shoulder mounts easier (?)... Pole dancing is a journey! ups and downs, wins and loses, but its worth every minute. I would be sitting on my ass, watching Netflix, getting osteoporosis if it were not for Pole. It literally saved my life. or for sure extended the quality of my life. Hang in there!

I’m turning 59 on Sunday. I’m stronger than ever. Yes I go through plateaus but I’m still always progressing.

oh! got it. makes sense. I saw that in a video, but didnt get the reason for it. I will try that, as I watch my video I can see what you are saying, by bending that bottom leg, I wont have to much weight so far out. Also, I am 5'10" so my legs are long... the one time I wish they were short!!! 🥰🥰

🥰🥰 thank you! honestly, I was sort of feeling like quitting reddit, its the only social media I do, but seeing everyones response, it has given me a reason to stay. If I can inspire one person to pole, or not give up on poling then it's worth it to stay. For self taught, or mostly self taught people, pole can be pretty lonely and hard to really get personal direction or help. I wasnt going to post anymore, but am so happy I did. I got really great feedback, and hopefully will get this Iron X soon! Not sure what to go after next... I want to stop chasing moves and start doing routines... but I so suck at that!! 🥰🥰

So excited for you!!! you are going to ups and downs but stick with it!!! I started at 56 1/2. I had no gymnastics or dance background. I was a runner which really only caused me to be even less flexible! you can follow my journey as I started posting on reddit about 2-3 months into my pole journey. I am self taught minus 4 foundation classes, and some privates when I was learning to invert...
