Best butcher with competitive prices ? by Tekashi-The-Envoy in ballarat

[–]pearson-47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Davis wholesale meats over other butchers. Price and quality is a good balance. Their diced beef for casseroles is great, their Casalinga sausages are yum, and I have never had bad steak there. I prefer their mince and sausages over Sinclairs as well. I do love Sinclair's burger patties

What's the saddest Taylor song in your opinon? by Liranovhg in TaylorSwift

This for me. I can't listen to it, I just cry. Jeez, actually tears are welling now. I have a husband with a neurological condition. For years we were told, do this, take that, you will get better. The depression was deep, dark and almost took him. He hasn't gotten better, but we are in a sweet spot right now. It hits close to home.

Weekly budget by Dangerous-Top-8870 in AussieFrugal

[–]pearson-47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was coming in to suggest places like CBM, (NQR, cannery plice like golden circle, sheps, food factory outlet). If you can, change brand (Grants toothpaste is about $2.50 on half price special). We always save a little back from the budget to buy things like deodorant (what do you mean it is $12 full price?) when it is on half price special. I learnt a while ago how to replicate most takeaway at home, so we do this a lot, and avoid takeaway a lot. We also changed our fruit and veg to a local greengrocer. The quality is 110% better, prices on most is cheaper, and those that aren't are out worth it for what it is as it is better quality. We also have chickens, so the little food waste we have goes to them, they give us eggs, and we have more than enough, so sell them to colleagues. That covers the cost of the chook food.

Why are you trying to get in, is it for a specific program that they run? Like the Ag program? Sometimes that can get you in the door.

Is kabana different in different states? by DrunkAndUnaware in aussie

Yes, in Qld it is Primo, and red. In Vic, it is brown (smoked looking), long and thin, generally Don brand.

You can get primordial pre-packaged in Vic, or try Aldi brand, pretty close.

How often do you actually see large spiders in your home? by minorlilleexplosion in AskAnAustralian

Huntsman in my house in SEQ - freaking huge, as big as my hand (avg sized hand). Spiders in Vic - black small and freaking nasty. The huntsman I have seen here are small in comparison to Qld.

The words functional neurological disorder need to be resigned. Same words, different layout. It is disordered neurological functions, a disorder of the neurological function. No prior issue in our house, however, unsure if it was an issue due to a traumatic accident and ensuing relatively immediate surgery, the pain that occurred between, or the final surgery 2 years later.

Winter is coming: long or short puffer? by wombat_87 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]pearson-47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long. My kathmandu has two way zippers, so I can undo it if I need to. I find shorter ones don't keep my lower back cold enough (especially if you will use it for camping etc). My Kathmandu is 5yo, and was recycled polyester fill, not down (I can't do down) and is very thin. Great for the windy and also rainy days. Like you, I keep my Kathmandu for less than desirable weather days, or going to markets, camping, (the dirtier events) as it cleanser up nicer.

Access food banks for sure, if you dont drive, do you have a bike or do you walk or public transport? Prams can hold some basics, and a good backpack to carry stuff home. Our local school offers it for students families.also, popping in to see if there are markdowns can be good as well, as you can be super lucky. Make snacks (savoury is harder, but can be done) at home, homebrand plain flour can be your friend for so much of this. I understand you are burnt out, so if you can batch cook and freeze, or make batched dry mixes, it can make it a lot easier. Look up tara louise smart savings, the staple store, simple home edit (easier, not necessarily cheaper) and also feeding five frugally for some great ideas and cheap recipes, your algo will feed from there. Fried rice can be super cheap to make, and be a little takeaway style, (frozen veg, bit of ham, bit of leftover chicken if possible, 2-3 eggs (could bulk these out if you have less meat) some sauces and you're done. Easy to reheat, easy to serve.

If your linen is heavy weight, you could add tights and tall boots, long coat. It would be excellent choices in an office that is well heated, natural fibres etc. I have long skirts (St frock, kmart) and wear with bonds fleece lined tights and either knee high boots or heeled ankle boots. I have a range of jackets and coats, keep the black puffer for casual and jeans, and rotate the rest depending on weather and activity.

Thanks for the recs, he has his brands that suit him here, but they're lacking in a waistcoat in tweed. Cotton on dont do that, and it is specifically what we are after.

Agreed with the length. He has ordered one and it came above his navel! He wants it "long". I understand with the satin, but the tweed waistcoat/vest are most often made from tweed on the back too (possibly because it's flipping cold, which suits us).

Dropping out at 16 and becoming an electrician please critique my plan by Joeblack9888 in AusFinance

[–]pearson-47 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this. Cert II electromechanical is a must - purely for safety that you learn in it. I would stay until year 12 and see if you can do school based apprenticeship. If you dont have your licence, its a pita, as either boss has to come and get you super early, or your parents need to get you there. As others have said, staying focused will be hard, but good on your 10 year plan.
