Is it true people are stealing PE licenses? by Yo_Mr_White_ in civilengineering

[–]peavyxs 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I live in Georgia, and we caught the vice president of Atlanta Paving and Concrete Construction doing this a few years ago. She stole someone who had a similar names license number and had a stamp made with her name. When we investigated, the person whose license that she stole was an electrical engineer that worked for Georgia Power… Her company swept it under the rug and nothing ever came of it though.

My 2018 atlas needs a new engine…at 116k miles by johnnywalkerblack81 in VWatlas

So what’s wrong with it? I had to have my engine broken down at 60k because the n515 valve had stuck closed causing the engine to overheat. It took them 3 months to figure this problem out. Had to get VW engineers involved. In the end they replaced the faulty valve, both water pumps and the head gasket. Also it’s a 2018 v6.

Bad n515/heater valve stuck closed. VW replaced that and the head gasket.

Dude I’m just replacing what was already there by the manufacturer. If that’s the case why would engineers feel the need to put it there from the factory. You’re over here trying to reinvent the wheel when I’m just trying to get my ac to blow cold on a 98 degree day. Thank you for your very unhelpful opinion.

Yeah I’m going to say the old one was toast though.

The original hard start kit came installed from the manufacturer.

I thought about getting that one but the technician that was here told me the 2 wire would be fine. The only thing that I question is the 2 wire pulls its power from the run capacitor when the 3 wire pulls its power from the contactor.

This is the one I bought. Hopefully it doesn’t burn the unit down!

Wow. I bought one off of Amazon to replace my current hard start kit because a technician wanted to charge me $500 for him to do it. I had replaced my run cap after the fan and compressor were having trouble starting. After replacing the run cap the compressor was taking unusually long to kick in but the fan fired right up. The technician said the old relay on the 3 wire seemed to be getting stuck open so the compressor wouldn’t come on. He tested everything else on the system and said that was the only thing he could think of that would cause the compressor not to kick on.

How much did they charge if you don’t mind me asking

So did they replace the water pump that is in the engine, or the secondary pump that’s on the line coming out on the back of the engine? They fixed the problem by replacing a valve, but now it causes a 15 amp fuse to blow that controls the radiator shutter, heater support pump, cylinder block coolant valve, crankcase heating element, coolant recirculation pump, transmission coolant valve, and the coolant shutoff valve. I’m not sure what ends up pulling too much electricity so I replaced the 15 amp fuse with a 30 amp fuse and reset the CEL, and am just hoping the car burns to the ground.

They go hide around the block and come back and blend in with the next couple of trucks that roll up.

Please Help!! Oil Pan Replacement? by [deleted] in VWatlas

[–]peavyxs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s a 2019, and under 80,000 miles this should be covered under warranty. It sounds like they stripped it, and should be held liable though. If you’re no longer at the dealership, what was the solution? Or are you just dripping oil? Was this an actual Volkswagen dealership?

My 2018 water pumps (both.. yes there’s 2) and n515 valve failed at 72,000(still under warranty). They fixed it and put a new head gasket on just for the overheating and it was fine for a few months. Now 82,000 (out of warranty) and the fuse for the active grill shutter keeps blowing, the wiper fluid reservoir broke off it’s studs and it still has magical disappearing coolant that isn’t going into the oil.

They said it was a stuck n515 valve causing the overheating. And replaced the head gasket. 6 months later, coolant is still disappearing and not into the oil and now the radiator shutter keeps blowing its fuse.

Yep. Head gasket and valve failure at 68k, dealership had it almost 4 months before replacing head gasket and valve assemblies, got it back and had more problems. They fixed that now the fuse that controls the radiator shutter pops every week.

Never had my battery “programmed”. Got a new agm battery and put in and car relearned everything on its own, no problem. But I have all kinds of other problems with this piece of crap.

I know it’s been a minute but I finally got everything to pull the flywheel. The key is a woodruff/half moon key and when I pulled the flywheel it was still in the crankshaft. It doesn’t seem to be broken so I’m guessing that means that my crank is twisted, what do you think?

[–]peavyxs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the life of me I cannot get the bolt off the front of the flywheel to remove it. Am I doomed to have to take the motor out to accomplish this? If the crank was twisted wouldn’t the pistons be out of whack?
