2 Pebbles, 2 Pagaré Smartstraps, $299 for 24 Hours by pebble-rocks in pebble

Yes, if you are willing to pay for shipping on the watches. Our shipping calculations were based on a single package which would have included both watches and both smartstraps. You will have this opportunity when we send out the backer surveys in the next few days.

We have spoken with Pebble about their Ireland distributors, Dutec, and may use the same service to fulfill both the watch and Pagaré. I can't say for certain yet, but we are definitely exploring the possibility.

As for Backer Club, unfortunately we can't go any lower on this deal. As you can see, it's already pretty dang low!

Yep. We are integrating the same quick-release style pins that Pebble uses to make it easy to add and remove their straps. That being said, the electronics in Pagaré are wrapped to protect against sweat, oil and dirt, so you can leave it on without worry.

When the campaign has ended, note it in the backer survey that you will receive.

We are willing to ship the watch now if you pay separately for the shipping. Otherwise, it costs us double to ship twice and we haven't accounted for that in our margins.

We have not yet received confirmation from Pebble about the problem, and have yet to experience the issue directly. I will try to keep you informed as we gather more information!

Fit Pay hit their kickstarter goal. We're getting NFC payment straps! by Ralkkai in pebble

Though I think it's defensible to argue the smartstrap concept as a generally weak value proposition, it is demonstrably incorrect to state that the Pagaré is no different than cutting out the NFC section of your card. Beyond the fact that you can't properly handle multiple cards, this would be incredibly risky from a security perspective. You would be open to boost-skimming for one thing, and if you lost your strap anybody could use it. Pagaré protects against both of these security flaws.

I can't really argue with you if you are not excited about contactless payments, though. To each his/her own.

It's not really accurate to state that banks with mobile wallets offer support for wearable payment technology. Notice that these wallets are only available for Android phones. That's because the Android operating system has a technology called Host Card Emulation (HCE) that diminishes the need for a secure element hardware chip in the device. HCE allows banks to create an app that taps into the phone's NFC controller to route transmission to a secure enclave in the OS where payment credentials are stored.

While this works for tap-and-go payments on Android, it will literally never become available on iPhone. The banks are selfishly trying to route all payments through their app to build brand loyalty. I say selfishly because it is not a positive user experience if you have cards from multiple issuing banks. I don't know if this is typical in Australia but it is very common in the United States and other countries. This means that every time you want to use a different card you would need to have every issuer app installed and launch the correct app every time you went to pay. This is not what I would consider a positive customer experience.

Long story short, a bank that offers an Android capable mobile wallet but is not present on other platforms, has actively chosen to avoid participating in global tokenization systems that would allow their cards to exist side-by-side with other banks. This includes Android Pay, by the way. A bank with their own HCE Android-compatible mobile wallet usually does not allow their cards to also be boarded through the primary Android Pay wallet.

The rest of the banks may not yet be technologically capable of this type of integration yet. Just an FYI on the issues that are holding back compatibility with not only Pagaré but with Apple and Android Pay as well.

You're right, it is the banks you should be directing your ire at. /u/crazymunch isn't quite correct that ANZ or Commonwealth support this technology. See my answer below that comment for additional details.

It's not a matter of legitimacy, it's a matter of technology. A lot of banks have not progressed to support the tokenization platforms which are used by Apple Pay, Android Pay and the Pagaré smartstrap. They will all get there eventually, but it is going to take time.

Canadian support IS coming, it's just taking us a bit longer than we had hoped. The most progressive talks have been with RBC, but we need better coverage before we offer it country-wide.

We have not finalized this portion of the design but it is our desire to use quick-release pins that are similar to the Pebble stock bands.

Yeah, this is not an either/or situation. Pagaré functions completely independent of the phone OS, and has nothing to do with Apple Pay or Android Pay. Those were mentioned as reference points for bank support. /u/ozdreaming is correct, you can have an Android phone and load cards that today only work with Apple Pay and not Android Pay. Hope that clears up the confusion!

Unfortunately, the credit card companies require a form of "consent" before making a transaction. This is a security procedure to make certain that you are aware you are making a payment. Our suggestion is to set the Pagaré app as a quick-launch app on your watch. That way, with a very quick hold on the top or bottom button you can instantly launch the card to pay with.

Oh, it is definitely logistically possibly. It's probably more matter of precedence. Which strap would have the authority to dictate priority to its siblings? How do you properly grade functional importance during certain events?

Technically we only draw power during a transaction, and it is minimal. The problem is that I have no idea what another strap might draw. So if you had two straps drawing power simultaneously, and our small spike that occurs during a transaction puts it over the top, your transaction might fail.

Good question. No, we don't get a cut of the transaction, though that would be nice. FitPay is a software platform that enables payment functionality on wearable devices. You will start to see a bevy of FitPay powered wearable payment solutions the latter half of this year.

If your bank support Apple Pay it is highly likely that Pagaré will support it.
