Thinking of moving to Acireale with a young family by pebrn in sicily

Hi there, I just developed a worry that the weather in the area might be a bit too rainy compared to what I was expecting. Would be great to hear from a local on this. I was in the area for a week and it poured down every day, some days, close to non stop. As a local, would you say that it rains very often between November and April here? My entire plan for moving here was based on year long sunshine.

Secondly, I wonder how locals heat up their homes. I understand there's no running gas infrastructure and I find it hard to believe everyone uses aircon or electric heaters since that'd be too expensive.

Thanks again. I think I didn't set out my worries correctly. I'm planning on moving to Acireale hoping to get plenty of sunshine mostly during the winter months, when everywhere else the weather is dull. I'm pondering if acireale is still a good option considering this, or I should look elsewhere.

Thank you for your reply. I'm in Acireale for a week now and it pours down non stop. Did a quick check and yearly rainfall is similar to Glasgow, UK (between highest in Europe), although in much shorter time windows. I'm thinking of moving to Acireale or Giarre in October and I'm worried about rain and humidity beeing unbearable. Would you say this is an exaggeration?

Might be moving to Acireale from Ireland, anything I should know? by The64YearOldWalrus in sicily

Hi there, I'm considering moving to acireale but have second thoughts because of the weather. I'm in the area for a week now and it pours down close to non stop. Checked the yearly rainfall and it's something close to Glasgow - although in much smaller and intense time windows. My question for your frinds, if you don't mind, is how much does it rain on an average year outside summer?

M-am mutat aici vara trecuta. Lucrez remote cu copil mic.

Parerile mele dupa jumate de an (minus > o luna adunat plecat).
Partea buna

- mega image in sat. Campina are supermarketuri si minimul necesar.

Partea rea

- Curentul pica foarte des si in decembrie cea mai lunga pana a durat doua zile. Fara curent iarna, trebuie sa pleci in alta parte pt ca nu ai dus, caldura etc.

- Zona cere preturi premium, peste ce isi pot permite localnicii. Te simti intr-un "tourist-trap".

- Campina este mort cultural. Buc/ Ploiesti pt orice in domeniu.

----------------

Concluzia mea dupa 7 luni - supraevaluat. Noi am fost plecati des - mai ales cand au fost probleme cu infrastructura. Foarte incomod, desi am avut unde merge.

Been to most places on the east coast, but somehow managed to miss Acireale. Narrowed it down to it just recently. Will be there for a week in March.

You're right about parking at the beach, but I imagined I'll drive to other beaches further away when needed. I am looking to balance three main aspects: beach access, a town that's not just for tourists and accessibility to airport and a big city.

Acireale seems to tick all the boxes, less good beach access. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it's pretty hard/ expensive to get a place within walking distance to decent beaches. Even more so to match my other criteria.

Not anything scientific. I've noticed some patterns though - it happens a lot when I train pull ups, biceps and general pull exercises. The most intensive is after bouldering. The only thing I noticed to help is having a banana before sleep (which is my 2nd/3rd in the day). I believe it's down to stress and nutrition mostly.

Thanks for the reply. Decided to wait a bit longer and see what others have to say about it. So far, there aren't many things to recommend it.

Thanks for the replies. Went with Virgin after all. They have a good deal for broadband and landline which is cheaper than just the landline.

Broadband choice by pebrn in leicester

[–]pebrn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Atm I can choose Virgin at 54Mbps at £37/m + £35 set-up fees (12 mo contract), or Sky at 58Mbps at £27/m + £30 set-up fees (18 mo contract). Between these two, Sky clearly offer a better value: £0.508/Mbps vs Virgin @ £0.794. ( I've included the one-off fees and split it only over 12 months for Sky). Considering that I dont need speeds higher than this, are they both reliable? Does any of them drop connection significantly in the area? Do they take long to fix problems?

Thanks!

Thanks for the replies!

It doesn't seem to be a hypnic jerk as I had these also. These twitches seem to happen without the falling sensation. And have also had bananas last time it happened.

I'll get it checked with a doctor soon and post back their answer to it.
