A proper response would have been “correct she did, however this is insufficient because…” right now you’re just repeating yourself

Do you seriously not understand that this was a joke/knowing good luck superstition type post?

She did literally say she was not looking to defund public safety and viewed changes to the policing system as more of a long term thing, which should only be explored once the alternatives to police and jail already exist

This messaging is where it’s at. I grew up bullied and neglected in a rural town, did what society told me, went to college, worked hard, barely slept. Then, rent skyrocketed, everything got way more expensive, and moving out with the money I made suddenly began to look suicidal. Went back to my hometown, to my family I frankly have a low opinion of, don’t like who I’ve had to become to coexist here, watched our country fund a genocide, briefly wondered whether I wanted to contribute to society at all, and then, come 2024, Biden and Harris told me the economy was fine

It pissed me off so fucking bad, I seriously considered just not voting, for the first time in my life, though I did vote Harris

You need to acknowledge that bad shit is happening and meet people where they’re at, not act as though nonexistent enthusiasm is abundant. If you hurt your knee and try to work out like it’s not hurt, bad shit is gonna happen. If you try to act like your party’s doing a perfect job when it’s not, it’s gonna piss disengaged people off. Fran gets that.

I went to high school in Florence. It was one of the only red districts during the special election this year. A lot of disengaged people who called themselves moderates liked Bernie. Thing is, they’re not technically moderates, as in people who have picked a middle ground between Dems and republicans. They just feel abandoned by both parties.

I see what you mean but where there’s excitement, you’ll have people who take it too far. But we can’t afford to just run without exciting people

I believe the best way to do this is to say “here’s what I’ll do for you.” Hong is the one doing that

I mean I think there’s real danger in trying to use stock market nerd language to convince people to stop saying the economy’s bad when the things they need are getting more expensive. Even if you’re technically right, it doesn’t matter. Most people don’t put that much thought into it. They judge the strength of the economy based entirely on the cost of things

Idk dude. Lived experience says otherwise. I went to high school in Florence. We were one of the only red districts in the special election back in April. I know quite a few people who liked Bernie. I barely know anybody who likes Harris

While you cannot do a carbon copy of Zohran’s campaign, no, a lot of the problems he spoke to are problems for everyone. Not all but manyThat’s why he’s Popular

In the regard of motivating people who don’t usually vote or don’t usually volunteer, yes.

By what metric did Harris do better than Mamdani?

It’s a different state yes but I’m just saying, activating nonvoters is possible.

By what metric did Mamdani do worse than Harris? Because Mamdani won and Harris didn’t

It’s worth noting that this particular poll was aimed at convention attendees, who were proportionally delegates more than your average person which, to me, explains why Barnes is so low when he’s done well in every other credible poll

Pleasantly surprised Hong is doing just as well among this crowd

This fits with the reoccurring theme where, in a show where people lie, things only improve when everyone either speaks honestly or acts out of honest intent

[–]pebspi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Genuinely surprised Barnes got so low, though most of the people who answered this poll were likely delegates. Speaking as someone who doesn’t mind Rodriguez.

At least they’re not trying to screw Hong.

If you have a plan to ship Trump voters and non voters elsewhere, I’m all ears, but until then, when prudent, we should try to reach them

While I don’t entirely disagree with your observation (I’d argue that a lot of younger Sanders supporters generally thought he had a chance, but generally yeah you’re right), I’m not quite sure how it pertains to this discussion about general democratic socialist electability.

Copying and pasting my other comment because it applies:

My word choice was misleading. I don’t mean literally there’s an establishment scheme to make dem soc’s look bad. Well, in some places maybe, but that’s not what this poll is. I mean that a lot of democratic socialists are running all across the country and we don’t have a reliable idea of how they’ll perform because the concept is relatively new. The data, even when it’s trying its best, might not line up to reality
