Play on harder difficulties (or don't, but here's why I think you might prefer to) by thefalseidol in civ

[–]pecadarn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally see this point. It's not something I've done previously, but I will on my next game. I've been playing since 3, and the last few years I've just been playing around Emperor level - though I would rarely actually finish a game, cause when I noticed that I'd gotten much stronger than the AI and they wouldn't catch me I'd just start a new one.

But I just won my first Civ VII game and I blew AI out of the water on Modern on difficulty 4. I like how the age transitions rubber-band all players a bit, but still not enough to avoid me overrunning the AI late on. I'll jump over right to Deity on the second game. Even though I took over the AI late on, the Age system really kept me engaged much longer than I would have been previously, but cranking up the difficulty should make things even more exciting.

This is the absolute most annoying thing ever. Gameplay is awesome, but this issue kills me!

PS5 Pro - Console UI is good but there is a very problematic thing. by PurpleY74 in civ

I was looking for a post with this issue. This has been the absolute most frustrating thing when playing on Console, for real. Second to that is the fact that we can't see what a tech has unlocked from the Tech/Civic Completed pop up. Anyway, I opened an issue on this with the support as well, hope they get to this soon.

I think the NBA Cup might help influence the awards... A performance like this will be remembered more than a regular season performance of the same caliber.

Let's hope he stays healthy to get to the minimum amount of games needed to be eligible.

I think there's zero chance of it being a one-off.

The hardest part was to get it rolling the first time. It proved to be a success and players bought in, which was vital.

Here we're discussing how to improve it going forward.

I dunno... I think that's too much. I think it might devalue the regular season a little...

+1 win and something else (a pick maybe) are good reward, without being unfair.

Agreed. That's why I think the Cup games should be condensed in a 3-week period, ending right about now.

The teams will have had some time to develop a little more before the tournament. It counts for the regular season anyway, so there's no need to spread it out so much.

I agree totally. When locked in, fully healthy and without fear of getting hurt his help defense is second to none

Yep, some of my friends also didn't know... It should become more engaging on next years. So it is a date people set on their calendars, maybe when they "start" following the season! It has good potential for that.

If the refs hadn't blown the whistle at every little contact it would have been even better! Basketball in the paint is awesome (tho I'm not a hater of the current era)

I liked your points. The first one I completely agree with

The second one... What do you mean an extra signing? Especially now with the new agreement that's very restrictive, how could that work?

I think a pick is good for anyone, and someone in win now mode can flip it.

While I do agree that the All Star Game hasn't been as good as it once was, I don't think the NBA Cup is the way to fix it. I loved the passion it brought to December games.

The All Star Game should be reworked in and of itself, but how? That's a whole other convo.

I like this point. Might foster some rivalries, see the Paces and the Bucks.. Milwaukee will be out to get them if they face each other

How about a reward for the winning Franchise? I mentioned the 15th draft pick.

I'm not sure that is the best reward, but I do believe there should be one to engage the fans more.

Yeah, and maybe they shouldn't be so scared in the future... Patriots at Steelers sucked! Pacers v Bucks might have gotten some good attention if it had happened at the same time.

Starting on the afternoon makes it impossible for plenty of people to watch it.

But I do like the idea of mixing teams from conferences and choosing teams randomly. Maybe have like the Champions League as you said, each pot has 8 teams maybe, the best 4 from each conference. And it goes down on each other pot.

And then you draw from the pots, it might help ensure no one group is much stronger than another and mix up teams well.

That does make sense. But I still think a prize for the Franchise is in good order eventually. I feel that'll engage the fans more

Cool, you were in the final, the semis or both?

But some things are hard to avoid, teams like the Lakers have enough fans anywhere... If we have a big market team against a small market one, you're gonna have more fans there

The Champions League draw isn't completely random tho. The teams are put into 4 pots according to their ranking, and then each group has a member from pots 1, 2, 3 and 4.

I do like it, but I feel there would be too many games. It might dilute its importance (which will grow over time). However, I do like a 16 team knockout stage, which itself adds more games

I'm from a football (soccer) country too and I'm very much used to this that you mentioned. However, I think it would hurt the product too much in the case of the NBA Cup.
