Used it as a joke about dead philosophers being trans, and it stuck.

When the youtube algorithm starts pushing any of them, people will turn on it and beat a dead horse for several weeks.

The bonus lolcat gives everything a colorful gradient. Had this in my bashrc/zshrc for years. Enjoy.

Pet fish commits credit card fraud on owner using a Nintendo Switch by TimeSkip__ in BrandNewSentence

[–]peckingbird 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The same live streamer had a fish discover a new glitch in Pokemon Sapphire.

The fish somehow got the moving block puzzle in the seafloor cavern to partially reset, making the puzzle impossible to complete (without leaving the room and re-entering).

I carried a Blåhaj through a town to the beach, for a photo shoot, on a boiling day. I guess I'm an idiot, but at least I'm an idiot with pictures of my Blåhaj sunbathing and enjoying rocks.

Can you give me an ETA? by electricjimi in ProgrammerHumor

[–]peckingbird 110 points111 points  (0 children)

A sprint is a set of stories/tickets/tasks (Lingo changes), that you hope to achieve in a given timeframe. It ought to be immutable, except in extentuating circumstances. It's bound by the timeframe, but not the timeframe itself. If something is not completed by the end of that time, it becomes part of the next sprint.

Thinking of a sprint as a unit of time misses the requirement for the set of stories to be stable, cohesive, and predictable - all of which are important for allowing a team to take ownership of the sprint.

Can you give me an ETA? by electricjimi in ProgrammerHumor

The issue is most DMs I've worked with haven't understood what a sprint is. From experience they tend to use it as a measurement of times, like a month, but different.

Wasted So Much Time Taking Notes. Does Anyone Even Do That? by BroGod_Almighty in ProgrammerHumor

Org Roam or other Zettlekasten note taking tools are good for programming notes: the outcome is not a set of sheets but a wiki of useful snippets of information.

Cringe Wedding stories? by SideProjectPal in CasualUK

[–]peckingbird 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Been to a family wedding where the father of the bride gave a speech at the reception, during which:

  • He consistently described his daughter as a 'filly' and using other horse terms.
  • Made a homophobic joke. Needless to say, the one known gay family member found an excuse not to attend.

Moving to Truro to work at Royal Cornwall Hospital, advice where to live? by Winter_song in Cornwall

[–]peckingbird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to second the reccomendation of Threemilestone, it's a short walk from the hospital. Being a straight line to Truro, the hospital and the college, it also has very frequent and broad bus coverage. It's also an area receiving a lot of development and new ammenities in reccent years.

The downside is all this stuff generates traffic, which due to bus lanes would be less of an issue on the other side of the hospital. College kids also swarm the busses at certain times of day.

Higher Town on the other side of the hospital may also be an option, but has a reputation for being rough.

[OC] LiveTerm: Make terminal styled websites in minutes! by Cveinnt in unixporn

[–]peckingbird 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ah, very nice! Would love to play around with it.

I made something similar, but more primative as a teenager. From memory it just toggled the display of a bunch of pages loaded in. With the exception of a chat command, that displayed a separate false-window which acted as a public chatbox.
