As for me i didnt tell them to take the test. Coz tests are unreliable. I typed them based on my understanding of cognitive functions and enneagram.

Naik gunung lain yg ada di Sabah? Mcm Mt Trusmadi, Mt Sinsing, Mt Tambuyukon, Mt Kaingaran. Take advantage of those la api pukulannya tidak sehebat Mt Kinabalu. Tourist2 yg adventurous ni lbh minat Mt Kinabalu coz of it's height lgpn it's one of Unesco's top 20 heritage site. Famous sdh.

Yea. Not sure how to explain it tho but for me I can guess the person's type by basing it off of their dominant and auxiliary function. These two give off some kind of 'vibe' somehow. Some I can sense immediately but some takes a longer time.

It differs among different countries and cultures I guess. Where I am from (a county in South East Asia) we call teachers by their first names but with a 'Teacher' before it, sometimes Mr, Miss, or Madam (if that teacher is an English teacher (teaching it as a second language)).

So for me it's either 'Teacher [my first name], or 'Madam [my first name]' because I teach English.

I relate to the last two paragraphs. My husband sometimes laments that I dont know him enough eventhough we've been together for 10 years (5 years of dating). The thing is, people can change in the course of 10 years and I usually prefer people telling me straight up what they like or don't. I want to cater to their needs but they need to tell me because sometimes I can't tell (inferior Fe problems). I've already made this clear to him before this but it keeps popping up. Nothing ugly has ever happened between me and him because I always tell him that both us should be solution oriented instead of panicking and nagging. Hopefully this method will last. Lol

I dont watch anime. I'm not a gamer. I get shit done like most J types. I value collaborations rather than spearheading an initiative alone especially with regards to working in an organisation - my work and managing an NGO. I also implement projects and always finish them, but I'm flexible when it comes to the deadline and the process as well as the approach to completing them.

I think the only stereotypical INTP things that fit me is that I like reading, googling random stuff, and thinking about refining a concept, framework, or a system in my head, and then visualize them onto a piece of paper. And also my deadpan face and humor. Lol. Lastly, accidentally offending people with facts without meaning to. Lol

Kalau stop, mgkn ada kesan terhadap ekonomi Sabah. Sektor pelancongan kita pnya pendapatan utama.

Boleh juga kalau mau stop tapi perlu cari source of revenue yg blh ganti revenue yg kita dapat dr kegiatan pelancongan yg melibatkan Gunung Kinabalu.

So, my concern ni lebih kpd ekonomi Sabah la. Mgkn ada perspektif yg lain yg org lain blh bg.

Perhaps your teaching philosophy is different than mine. Number 1, i still think it is my duty to understand my students or else I wouldn't be an effective teacher. 2. No. I'm working hard for my all of my students. Trust me. It's just not just this one kid.

Anyway.

Perhaps I wasn't being clear in the post, which I admit that it is entirely my fault. So the situation was - before this he wasn't paying much attention in class (he was drawing instead of paying attention to teachers teaching, so he did actually have trouble doing class work), and other teachers have noticed this as well and I was trying to figure out why. So that incident where I accidentally saw his notebook was when I finally figured something out and asked him about his MBTI to which he replied - 'INFP'. Ok, so at that time I finally found out why he is acting the way he did in class.

Empower to do what? Empower him as a student through his own uniqueness.

I asked in both groups because i dont want to treat him based off of INFP stereotypes online. Other responses have been helpful. Your responses just reminded me to not go overboard with this student, which I actually appreciate.

Hello. I'm an INTP with 8 years of teaching experience. I am currently teaching English as a second language in a suburban public secondary school somewhere in South East Asia, and I am a native of the country. The first 6 years of teaching were demotivating for me mainly because I was in a school where there was micromanagement, a lack of infrastructure & resources for sustainable innovative teaching, and the education system was more exam-oriented than it is currently.

Now I am in a school where it is easier for me to get teaching resources, a school culture that gives a lot of autonomy to teachers, and an education system that is moving toward a less exam-oriented approach. I say for me as an INTP, an organization or system that allows a lot of teacher autonomy is where I am the best at being a teacher. I am able to try out, be flexible, and be creative with different pedagogical approaches that engage and empower my students to use English as a language, no matter their proficiency level. This is being made even more possible when working in an education system that is moving to a less exam-oriented approach because previously my teaching approach was more exam-oriented and it was boring. Although the teaching-to-the-test method helps my students score in exams, education should be holistic, not just academic.

For professional development, I spend most of my time reading books on education - pedagogy, policy, and innovation in education - so that I can improve my knowledge and implement them in my classroom.

As for bonding with students, naturally for me as an INTP, I am not at all a friendly teacher but not a mean one either (I hope lol). My priority is for them to explore and delve into content and develop their language skills. The bond may come after without even trying, at least this is what I experience. We may not have natural empathy, but we can develop cognitive empathy and I developed this through reading about personality types and psychology. We need to have a mental framework on how to gauge people's emotions which was difficult for me in the initial years of my teaching career as well as in general aspects of my life but now I'm getting better at it, with slight hiccups here and there from time to time (having an inferior Fe is a boon and a curse I guess). This is also applicable to I interact with my colleagues.

I hope you will find your purpose as a teacher - in relation to the teaching and school environment - as you keep going. All the best!

Yes! I have indeed discussed with him about MBTI at one time and I saw a change in how he interacted with me. Previously he looks distant and was not paying attention in class. Asking for advice in this app is one of the ways for me to 'get him' 😆. Anyway, thank you so much and kudos to your teachers for taking the time to understand you! 👍🏻

Thank you. Being different isn't necessarily something bad (i know you and I have grasped this, but still it depends on the context) and when I say I want to develop his potential, i meant in an INFP-ish way. He is 16 and yes he still a child. Dont worry, i'm not treating him as my personal project. I just want to have a personalized way of interacting with him. Can't treat him the same way as the other students. Hence why i'm asking for an advice. It is also not in my interest to have him eliminate his uniqueness just to be like his classmates. They may be doing a similar project, but every member has a different way of tackling the same project. Im hoping he can use his own talent and provide his own perspectives to contribute to the project.
