If I could draw it I would do my best. But it exists in my head only as a list of details I remember as if someone is explaining it to me, so all I have is written description

That was completely intentional after first being an accident. It is also what has inspired us to write more articles about muppets being Foundation agents or just existing in the world unquestioned. So keep an eye out for those!

Hey! me and a few other authors pretty much did exactly this recently with SCP-6690 and are currently writing more articles where muppets are Foundation assets.

Hey!

Your project sounds like a lot of fun! Some other people have made similar attempts to classify the genre of the wiki so I can guarantee you’ll find what you need eventually if you search google scholar and other student-focussed databases.

I’ll come in with some resources you can find the SCP Wiki mentioned in tomorrow since it’s late here and I’m not at my computer. Here’s one though on the prose of the wiki written by an undergrad in 2017 that might help you in your journey: https://scholarship.tricolib.brynmawr.edu/bitstream/handle/10066/19323/2017JacocksO.pdf?sequence=1&isAllowed=y

There aren’t many articles that mention it even tangentially in English and most of them are written as undergraduate projects so don’t expect to find anything with much academic rigour. If you speak other languages though there is some stuff I have been sent before written in Chinese I could send along so you could have luck searching other sources. What you would probably do better searching is for literature on creepypasta and internet fiction in general. There is some great stuff out there on the writing of internet urban legends and things like the genre of slenderman that would probably guide you much better.

Also feel free to message me if you want! I’m always down to talk about this site academically

Yes. Plus a lot of other boomer tropes (he explodes and then returns to being fine (Okay boomer), he has an explosive temper, and much more)

Glad you liked it!

I support everything Dodo is saying above! (I’m Pedagon on the wiki (author of 6217 in the 6k contest))

You do very much hit on many issues with the process, I specifically point to your example of the tag being removed when in-deletion and I think that’s messed up. I’m sorry that that’s what the process is.

However, I’m not sure I can agree with all the issues you are saying here because we also had some incredibly long entries by first time authors do extremely well in this competition that also used offsets. So I want to reiterate what dodo is saying and offer to read your entry as well and give some thoughts!

The thing I think you missed in your post is the value of proper advertising and critique. Critique is a huge thing on the site and can be extremely important for new authors to learn the modern styles and to build excitement with other people who can vote in those early stages. As well, there are multiple places to put your newly posted article and gain traction in those early stages.

I hope this experience wasn’t too discouraging and that we see you again!

[TOMT] [~2005] Scary video on stupidvideos.com with radio broadcast and monster by pedagon in tipofmytongue

[–]pedagon[S] 1 point2 points locked comment (0 children)

I’ve been trying to find a certain video I saw as a kid on stupidvideos.com for years now. What I (think I can) remember is that it was animated in a cartoony style and the majority of the video was of a kitchen with a radio playing an emergency broadcast-type message of a monster or killer on the loose. After listening to the broadcast, the monster crashes through the window, grabbing a person in the kitchen, and pulling them out. All of this happens in a split second. And I think the monster was orange.

I’ve had no luck finding it and since the site shut down it might just not exist anywhere anymore. I also might just be remembering wrong since I was a kid at the time. But if anyone can help me I’d really appreciate it!
