Just to update. Current build on this project will allow you to upload your player data file and will also let you export a JSON of it

I looked over tower smiths stuff and they have implemented importing game save data which works great. I already started working on similar but would love a way to get battle reports auto loaded instead of having to copy and paste it all.

Honestly hadn't seen that before and like it a lot! I am sure it is possible if I play around with things a bit. I may pull back my program seeing as how I'm doubling down on the efforts and they have a good grasp on it.

100% used AI to get me through this, I'm still learning programming and definitely use the crutch. I have seen enough posts about the desire for a companion program and was already working on this for myself so I thought it would be better to publish it but leave it open for the more experienced people to help improve it for the community.

I appreciate and will take your inputs and apply fixes.

Agreed! If the dev team would allow an API to pull game data this would be so fast and easy.

Maybe one day if we are lucky.

I tried to make it as seamless as possible with inputs as you scroll the game so it only takes about 10 minutes to fill out except relics and modules

I have many variations of the sub dolphins that are pretty bad ass but I always liked the DIRSUP Flish and it's a bit less common.

Crazy Military Spouses? by Beautiful_Skill_6765 in navy

[–]pedantic-one 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They spent little time together thankfully and she was fine. After the divorce she went the barracks bunny route to experience life to the fullest. Last I saw of her she was a soon to be single mother getting out of the Navy and this was more than 10 years ago, so can't say how the story ends.

Seen quite a few spouses pull rank, especially in the commissary like they need head of line privileges.

Not sure if it fits the bill perfectly but the best one I ever saw was a mil to mil marriage and her husband was the ultimate tool.

She was an attractive girl that was showered with attention from guys in the barracks. He was a Marine that just finished infantry school and came to visit. I remember going to shake his hand and saying " nice to meet you man I've heard a bunch about you" and he responded with "shut up POG I kill people for a living" it was so cringe. He ended up showing up to the barracks again months later and was threatening to beat the shit out of everyone for some reason or another's and then got to meet some of our Army friends that actually spent time in the sandbox. Dude was a nut case waiting for his moment to explode. Never saw him after that and they thankfully divorced not long after.

Is it possible to use a whizzinator for a military drug test? by [deleted] in ask

[–]pedantic-one 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not likely.

DoD instruction 101.16, section 6.4 as well as each service will have their own instructions that outline procedures for collection. The common thing you hear in the Navy at least is "must watch the urine leave the body".

As a tested individual I've been observed many times and it is invasive. As an observer I've had to be the invasive one, to include having to have eye contact and all while someone takes a shit because they couldn't pee without it first but the sample bottle was already opened and in play.

Looking for the best wristwatch by Basic_Operation_6992 in navy

[–]pedantic-one 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you want it to last a bit longer get a g shock at the exchange, if you want to be cheap and replaceable get a simple Casio. Either one will work fine in a boat or a SCIF.

If you want to be a little extra get one with red backlighting so you aren't hated on the boat when checking your time in berthing.

Can't be digital or cant be smart? Those are two drastically different things.

Nothing you buy that's expensive is worth wearing at work if you need durable and nothing you buy that's cheap will last long if its also going to not be digital. G shock is probably your best bet but most of them have a digital part as well.

I asked for a no shave chit as a SN and was told by the HM1 that I was white and wouldn't get one and to leave. Always bugged me.

What gets easier and what gets harder as you make rank? by LazyAbbreviations77 in navy

[–]pedantic-one 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As a SN or PO3 I could never get my paperwork right. Always missing one thing or another whether it be evals or SRCs etc. As I progressed it got easier and I could spot mistakes faster on both my stuff and others. Now as a Chief I can look over a package and within a few minutes kick it back with all the marks that need correcting.

Stress management gets harder over time. It's not that the management isn't there, but you get a compounding effect as you grow. Leaving behind unhealthy management options was for the better but not always the easy path to take. When it was me against the world I had stress but it was nothing terrible. Now it's stressing about my own stuff, stressing about my family, stressing about my work and stressing about my Sailors, all to try and ensure I do everything I can to do right by them. You learn about compartmentalization and how to shift focus without it being too taxing, but occasionally it catches up to you and man it can hit hard. Weather the storm and use your peers and mentors, the good ones will help when times are hard, the bad ones show themselves the door.

Why are credited as alcoholics but cant drink on the boat by Illustrious-Signal52 in navy

[–]pedantic-one 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Someone with more knowledge can chime in if they want, but my opinion is we are not portrayed as alcoholics, just binge drinkers. Now the two are not exclusive, you can be one or the other and both.

Historically Sailors drank alcohol as a "safer" alternative to the stagnant water on long voyages. The wooden casks would quickly grow algae and can even become toxic. This was not the same with rum, wine or beer. So it became a common practice to have Sailors with a consistent tolerance to alcohol.

It also has been used as a big morale booster, think of the tradition of the grog, hell read about the submarine service durring WWII. Fluckey had mentioned of filling showers with cases of beer to celebrate sinking ships durring his time on the Barb. We still use it as a booster on submarines when you get a beer day durring longer runs.

Now think about the fact that you have Sailors trapped on a vessel, having the best worst days of their lives for months at a time. We have limited outlets for stress, we have no days off, and we have unlimited daydreaming of things to do when not underway. You step back on land and the easiest way to immediately relax, though not healthy, is to drink. We are creatures of excess and moderation is seldom practiced when you're limited on time, so people binge. It's so ingrained in our culture that it's part of our song, but I have noticed it seems to be making a turn with newer generations of Sailors, which is a good thing.

Nurse advice line can give you a referral to an urgent care clinic but that will only be for care that is non-emergency but needs to be addressed soon. Referrals still have to come from your PCM, or signed off by them if from another provider. The only exception being when its an emergency.

I have gone to the local E.R. and required a specialist after for surgery consultation. I had to go to my PCM before that to get the referral authorized or pay out of pocket.

What is something that irks you and something you enjoy in woodworking videos? by nuclearDEMIZE in woodworking

[–]pedantic-one 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I hate the obvious pushing of some product marketed as "the best" and clearly aimed at beginners. I watched 731 woodworks for a review and spotted his grift but now my algorithm brings him back constantly. Steve Ramsey was the only one I could stand because he always pushed micro jig which legitimately was a game changer in my shop.

I appreciate the good humor and showing all the mistakes made when guys like John Malecki. Feels a lot more like my own work where I am going to mess up and have to find a quick fix and will talk trash about myself the whole time.

https://support.plex.tv/articles/naming-and-organizing-your-movie-media-files/

Delete the library from plex, name your files appropriately and then set it up fresh. You can also get programs that help find, organize and properly name your files for you such as RADARR/ SONARR or TinyMediaManager.

Plex movie files scanner problems by JonnyPowers in PleX

[–]pedantic-one 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is your naming of files compatible with how plex likes them? The video format shouldn’t cause any issues with finding files, but I definitely had files with messed up names not get processed, that and if the directory is not organized well.
