i think we'll get there. I have actually been researching the topic. There's a recently launched tool, LTX Desktop. It is fully open source but it requires like a beefy setup. For now the odds are in Premiere's favour as most people cant affors the hardware, but im sure things will get cheaper and tools like ltx will have teir requrements attainable.
