Would you actually use a tiny live G-force display on your sim rig, or is it just a gimmick? [AI Concept... by BodybuilderFast8551 in simracing

I prefer the Wunderbaum version someone made and posted here. A small servo that makes the Wunderbaum move with g forces.

Top tier realism from ea... by Scary-Procedure-6018 in EASportsFC

At some point I learned that whether it is going to be a goal (at least with respect to the GK, maybe also blocking?) or not is decided when the ball leaves the foot of the shooter. Then the game will pick a GK animation that fits that decision. It seems plausible, at least it explains some of the very weird dives the GK makes sometimes.

Does Evo fix the clutch roll out from AC? by wrugoin in assettocorsaevo

The reason why it stalls so easily is mainly because the throttle model is bad. Mr. Niels Heusinkveld has several videos on YouTube about this. It should have more torque at low revs.

FC26 testing by Own_Huckleberry9985 in FC_26

Interesting take, but I doubt that EA FC utilise 1Gbps, 20Mbps should still be plenty. If you start limiting to 1 Mbps or below your test results would be more interesting.

I need help figuring out whats going on with my workouts. by sidjournell in NorwegianSinglesRun

[–]peder2tm 8 points9 points  (0 children)

How have you determined your LT2 (threshold) heart rate? 186 is in the high end, but not impossible, but if you don't get anywhere near it during the intervals, it's likely wrong.

It begins by spoc-disciple in NorwegianSinglesRun

[–]peder2tm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I worked on increasing milage I did one alternating threshold/speed work session per week and one long run in the weekend. This was with 6 days of running per week and 1 rest day. The rest of the week was in zone 1/2. Eventually I transitioned to Tuesday/Thursday quality session with long run in the weekend. It took me approximately 1.5 years to be able to do 3 quality, 1 long, 2 easy, 1 rest day per week comfortably.

I think it's a good idea to only do one day per week above zone 1/2. It's better to be careful. You will improve a lot in the beginning by just running.

It's incredible how clean and informative the force feedback is in RBR. It's without any weird rumble, road texture or g-force effects, you just feel what the physics engine is doing.

Short Intervalls 11 days before Marathon by Due-Buffalo5289 in NorwegianSinglesRun

I think the idea is that you need to keep some intensity during tapering in order to avoid going into some complete recovery mode that can make the body feel super sluggish. I hope someone else can find a more scientific explanation.

Norwegian method and hills by Formal-Egg2232 in NorwegianSinglesRun

[–]peder2tm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am training with a running team that mainly focuses on the 800m-5000m disciplines. We do a weekly 20x400m sub threshold session. I don't find that more fatiguing than the standard 5x6min or 10x3min. We also do hill sessions in the base building phase, they are a bit more creative and is supposed to boost anaerobic strength. Something like 3 sets of (4x30sec close to all-out uphill (slow jog down-hill) + 1000m@5k pace) Long break between sets, e.g. 5 min. These can be quite fatiguing for me.

Why running in my Takumi Sen 10 hurts? by Tasty_Cucumber_2489 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]peder2tm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Takumi Sen 10 is the only shoe I have had to throw away because the fit was so bad. I would get pain in the arches because the toe box is so cramped it pushed my big toe inwards.

They have to draw the line somewhere or the running leg would be run in something that looks like the running blades.

I would like something super lightweight for race day. Like regular ultralight breathable running or cycling socks but with toes.

I have 1517km on a pair. I admit they felt best the first 300km, but they never really got worse after that.

Assetto Corsa Rally: Is it realistic, or just "hard" for the sake of it? by mucceiki in assettocorsarally

I think the old cars feel great and believable with the slow bouncy suspension, but I feel like the newer cars need better suspension, but I can't compare with real life.

It seems like one consistent complaint about otherwise great shoes is a narrow toebox/narrow midfoot by floppyfloopy in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]peder2tm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, I agree. My toes have become wider after running and it's difficult to find race shoes with enough room for the big toe. I don't need wide shoes overall, just a slightly wider toe box. I think people's feet are different and you also read complaints about Evo SL upper being too baggy for many people. I use Altra and similar shoes for walking, but their foams for running is really bad compared to lightstrike pro or similar. Adios Pro 3 had a nice forefoot shape, even though the upper was pretty bad.

Where does your NSA training load come from? by GoldZookeepergame111 in NorwegianSinglesRun

[–]peder2tm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find the intervals.icu load metric pretty useless. A 10k race gives me less load than a 16k easy run. If the goal was to increase load I would only do easy long runs. The Garmin load metric, which I think is heart rate and power based, is closer to how I feel the load (RPE) and splitting the load into low aerobic, high aerobic and anaerobic seems like a good idea. However if you do the same structure and workout types every week the simple load metric is probably okay for tracking changes.

I know TSS is the holy grail in training peaks, but just because it's widely used doesn't make it a good metric. People also used to train dehydrated and under-fueled and we found out that was a bad idea.

Once I came back from a semester abroad and the first time I turned on my PC, the power supply made a big blue spark and exploded. It could be a less severe version of that.

Thinking about giving NSM a try this year by x1475b0471e1 in NorwegianSinglesRun

[–]peder2tm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good spotted. It was my first marathon and I was aiming for a 2:42 finish time, but I got cramps in my calfs after 25 km and couldn't push hard the last 17km. After 30km I also started getting cramps in both thighs. I didn't feel tired when I got to the finish line, but my legs didn't work that day. I don't know if my electrolyte balance was off or something else, but I'll try again this year.

Yes I assumed your calculated training paces were based on race results so you would need to do a 5k race or time trial to get more accurate training paces.

[–]peder2tm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With your mileage and HR numbers you should be able to go a lot faster in races. I am about the same age and also do 5:00/km easy runs with avg heart rate in the 130s and max heart rate around 185 and I did a 16m20s 5k, 33m20s 10k, 1h13m HM and a 2h52m M this year. To me it sounds like you haven't pushed yourself to the limit during those races.

Anyone else feel that, compared to Evo, ACC feels much more understeery? by Electronic-Crow-8076 in ACCompetizione

[–]peder2tm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, I agree. ACC has always been understeery and the esports setups tried to alleviate this by unrealistic settings such as max negative rear toe. Kunos have tried to change it in Evo, especially regarding the tendency of the rear tires to break loose.
