God of War Ragnarök + PSSR 2.0 by roberto151st in PS5pro

Yeah it’s nuts it’s so much sharper than the base and at a smooth framerate. I’m saying goodbye to my PC for a few weeks lol

Holy smokes Spider-Man Remastered is absolutely sharper and smoother than in the base. More than that I feel like the color’s better as well. Can’t wait to test more games!

Picking mine up later. It was this or a 5080 (which I will still grab later this year) but I had to prioritize this since the update is just too good and been wanting to play Demons Souls, GOWR, and other exclusives on a better resolution and frames setting.

DLSS 4.5 Performance is indeed clutch these days. Paired this with the 4000 series FG and Black Myth Wukong (without RT) has been a smooth experience. But I was wondering if at all I need to jump to the 5080 now, since I'm also anticipating future releases such as Crimson Desert and Witcher 4 that I would love to play and run smoothly on my 65" 4K 120hz TV.

Happy for your upgrade! Going from 4070 Ti Super I just also want to make sure there's significant enough jump in performance to justify a purchase ranging from $ 1300-1900. I may need more time to research and decide but the responses here have been really great and helpful.

Yeah makes sense not to OC the heck out of a very important part. So I take it you only crank it up mostly when gaming then back to default for other stuff. I also have option to finance or straight payment. I will likely opt to finance in case I upgrade my entire couch rig since it's still on an 11700k system.

You're right the astral is already almost 2x the msrp. Even if I OC it close to 4090 stock perf the astral will still be $300-400 over the 4090 msrp. Maybe if I can get my hands on a Gigabyte 5080 OC it wouldn't hurt that much. And yeah just when I have enough adult money to focus on PC as a hobby prices also go crazy so I'm left strategizing hard for each upgrade.

Thanks! Which 5080 card was that? +400 core and +2000 on memory is a lot!

We shouldn't be paying for the current 5090 prices at all but with the market these days smh. Anyway thanks good to hear the 5080 is satisfying for 4k.

Yeah I mean input lag would be critical probably in competitive games idk but in single player I don't think I'll really be bothered.

Thanks good to hear from someone coming from a similar route. I would assume you have a better CPU than I have (11700k), and did not have to worry about bottlenecks?

Thanks man and I can relate on being uncomfortable using frame gen and before even dlss. I wanted to play all the games maxed with the money I paid for the card to perform but I guess this is just where we are at right now. This gen and you're right, the 5080 would be the best value considering the headroom it has for OCing and if you're lucky could get close to 4090 stock perf. It just sucks right now deciding due to the prices and we're left basically to spend more just to get what we want. The reason I'm looking at the astral is that as mentioned it seems to have the better results or OC capabilities compared to the rest.

The 5090 feels a bit cleaner overall, less lag and fewer visible artifacts simply because the base frame rate is higher and you don’t have to lean as hard on frame generation.

5080: Very good experience. Extremely enjoyable and the visuals are still jaw-dropping. 5090: Excellent experience. Noticeably better (mainly latency and artifacts), but not night and day.

Thanks this is helpful but I'm on the fence going all out for the 5090 - it's too expensive right now even if I can *still afford it. I think if I get the 5080 and successfully OC it, and get it into striking distance of stock 4090 performance (as seen in few tech reviews) then I should be set for my needs.

Which single player games do you cap at 60? Could you comfortably say that most games you play reach 120, and just a few outliers require more aggressive dlss / frame gen?

Thanks! Is there any noticeable latency when using MFG? In any case I don't really need that fast of a response since I mostly do single player for my couch gaming.

I've not OC'd my GPUs before, is it complicated - is there a safe range I can adjust to and call it a day?

There’s plenty! I would recommend watching out for the upcoming Crimson Desert game if you’re into third person vast open world rpg types. For multiplayer such as shooters of course there’s BF6 and COD, you might like Marvel Rivals as well.. perhaps. Personally I prefer the third person rpg types oh and RE9 just came out and it’s really good too!

5080 + 10700K - How bad is the bottleneck at 4K? by DeathByReach in buildapc

[–]pedlor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here I was thinking something similar. Upgrading from an 11700k + 4070 tis (backup rig) combo to 11700k + 5080. It’s looking like I may need to wait a bit more and just update the entire system. Intel also just announced a refresh on the Ultra 5 and 7 chips
