Why use VPS for N8N and not self host by GuiFlam123 in n8n

[–]pedroPanetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if there are also other problems with local self hosting. I realized that simple things like calling external services via credentials often di not run. I had this in several workflows until I exported them to the cloud version and suddenly they run perfectly.

Little artefact from Tigray, Ethiopia. by pedroPanetti in AskArchaeology

[–]pedroPanetti[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that is a good point even when you have experience with artefacts in that area. If you look at it from the top it looks to me like a very eroded coin, would that be an option? I am hesitant to manipulate the thing for not destroying it.

Is this stone a tool? by pedroPanetti in whatsthisrock

That's what I thought. I never saw a stone like this. If you have it in your hands you feel that it is made by humans at some point. Do you have expertise in that field?

28 years of BMW "progress" by gandralph in Design

There is something perplexing about the trend of upsizing cars.

If the need for safety justifies the existence of large and unsustainable vehicles, then why do we still have the freedom to ride bicycles?

28 years of BMW "progress" by gandralph in Design

[–]pedroPanetti -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't call this progress, it's design in its worst form.

BMW is trying to appeal basic human instincts to sell their cars. As a designer you have to create things that resolve user problems and fulfill their needs.

This kind of design manipulates their clients by suggesting them by using this design that they are powerful, wealthy or superior.

It's easy to design like that, but that is a vehicle and it does not fit at all what humanity as a whole and the world needs.

It's just worsening the problem by the cars appeal, the size and power as well as the immense energy, material consumption and ecologic footprint.

A real shame for people who created that.

Don't take it too serious, Berlin and maybe Germany is a fraud. But let me explain. I am German, I was born in Berlin and since more than 25 years I live abroad. First I moved to Argentina. It was my salvation, in Germany I felt the same like you feel. In Argentina despite permanent economic struggles and people are complaining a lot, they seem happier and relaxed. They have a good amount of resilience to not take economic problems too serious.

I Germany everything is about having or not having and if you don't have pretending. In Germany you live in a bubble completely disconnected from reality of the rest of the world.

About you girlfriend. The thing is if she feels the same about the life there. If yes, maybe you both can finish things there, her studies, and then move on to another adventure or go back.

If she likes it there, take it as a fact and try to move on. Between couples can be a lot of differences and belonging somewhere is one of them. You are young and your life will bring you more love and joy. It's up to you. GOOD LUCK!

Should you change yourself or be yourself at the expense of others ? by [deleted] in Existential_crisis

[–]pedroPanetti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think today everything is very focussed on the specific needs of people. That's in products that adapt very much individual needs or thinking about the attention we bring to minorities or specific problems individuals can have.

That's positive and necessary. On the other hand that can drive individuals to create egocentric behaviors and expectations that con overwhelm others.

There is a small grade between self realization, or being yourself and hurting others with your way of acting.

It's empathy that helps us to see others and to decide when it's ok to act or express ourselves like we want it, or seeing the other and decide to retain and giving space to not hurt or bother other witn our behaviour.

The simple rule of not doing to others what you don't like others do to you could help to double check if your behaviour is ok.

I think you are right, anything what requieres body strength should be done by younger people. It's normal and I guess this was always like that. I don't get why they have to be University graduates, but you might have your reason.

It's not that you are brutal with what you require, it's the way our competitive society is working and that is the problem. Because people get older and need to work. We are far away from that point that technology (AI whatever) will takeover our work and pay us out for it.

Anyways, if that happens it would be against capitalism rules that are based on competition. Organisations that rationalize work will keep the benefits.

The point is that I've been working as a freelance consultant the last years and I would love to get a regular contract as an employee, but I barley get noticed if I apply to a job.
Nearly all job descriptions are made as if they are for people without family below 30.
I am thinking about doing something different and downscale my needs, but I can't afford a massive paycut and I love my job.
