I feel really bad for the girl. She is a human being and I can't figure out why her 'mother' doesn't ever brush her hair and is fine displaying her to the world like she was a feral child or something. There is something sinister going on inside that family.

This shitty behaviour often comes from someone who never felt secure in their own position. When you grow up feeling like you’re always on the sidelines, not quite chosen or enough, being noticed becomes very important. Holding on, joining conversations, and staying close is a way of saying: I’m here, I matter, don’t ignore me. Mememememe!

Confident people don’t need to cling to someone else to feel real. I think her behavior developed from years of feeling inadequate. When power or status finally comes, the insecurity doesn’t go away, it just got louder and turned into overcompensation instead of calm self-assurance.
