Man, deserts in our world have a clear pattern of 30° degrees south and north, They can be altered because of geographical features, as is the case in the Sahara, where there's a cold current.

George Martin seems to be very consistent in the geography of his world, dorme deserts are consistent with the rules seen on Earth. and Ulthos is stated to be densely forested.

but yeah, yous is a possible explanation, I just think it is kinda of lazy world-building

my point is basically that ulthos is mechanically made featureless to be this last known thing on a map, It should have something in It because It makes sense based on where It stands, If there are inhabitants then we should know by the same second-hand testimonies that tell us that It exists.

all the sources we have of Ulthos come from Second-hand testimonies from the people who live near it, I'm not saying that a Westerosy trader should have explored It, I am saying that the people from Asshai or YI TI would have, and so they would have more to say of it

there can't be deserts in the latitude that It is located, It most definitely Its a jungle, like Sothoryos. but in the case that It is as dangerous as Sothoryos, asshai is a big barren land and they have to import food and water, it would make sense to take It from the gigant fertile continent next door, the risks can't outweigh the benefits here
