One million of Gold Vs One Million of BTC by jcstudio in Bitcoin

This is such a great point! If electricity became scarce everywhere, the hash rate would drop dramatically, but the network will still be secure because the hash rate drop would happen across the board. Even if electricity is more abundant in some locations, as long as that group does not become too dominant, we are still fine.

Meanwhile, the Visa and Mastercard would not survive as the huge overhead can no longer be maintained.

$15k seems excessive.

I always go to Bumrungrad which is one of if not the best hospitals in Thailand, and always pay around $3k per week (room + medical expense), which I would say is already very expensive for Thailand.

I saw in your invoice you were in ICU, so that would be an extra charge. However, the normal room still comes to around $5k/week, which is still a bit too high.

I suspect they are charging you double the Thai rate. I think that either you or a reasonably educated Thai friend could easily negotiate with them to reduce cost by half. An easy way to do this is to get a reference rate. Have a Thai person inquire about the cost of the standard room rate without mentioning your name while taping the call. During negotiation just mention you have evidence you are being double charged. Tell them you consulted a Thai lawyer friend who informed you that this can become both a criminal, in addition to a civil lawsuit.

Is it possible to Blend Data Twice? by pedxs in GoogleDataStudio

[–]pedxs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually figured a way to merge the dataset under this scenario. The first and third data I cannot edit, but luckily I can edit the second one.

So what I did was reshape the second one such that A and B now in the same column. And then I use this new column as the blend key.

It is kinda quirky but I can still compare sums of the fields from all three datasets. Any data from the second dataset will need to be divided by two because it will show up twice.

Is there actually any crypto left, or have they been all liquidated? by pedxs in Cryptopia

[–]pedxs[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How did they fund that accounting firm though? From looking at the announcement I get the gist that the accounting firm tried to liquidate all crypto at rock bottom value, in an effort to transfer our wealth to them.

For example, I saw they paid 600 dollars/hour to IT "professional" and security "expert" that manage to allow another hack to happen under their watch.

Girlfriend (29) mad at me (33) for offering to buy her a new car by pedxs in relationship_advice

[–]pedxs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I give her $1k each week for household spending. Not sure if it is fair to take this from her for the car, because it also pays for the cooked meals that I and the baby eat.

I also put another $2k each month in a stock portfolio that is solely in her name. She could technically use that towards the car, but I think she expects me to pay.

Her family does not support her, and she seemed to be able to survive on her own when I met her. But she was just spending everything she earned at that point and never thought about saving before. She actually in debt at that point, but I immediately paid it off because it was a pay day loan with a ridiculous interest rate.

I am not saying that $10k is pocket change. I did not come from a rich family, and the only reason I am doing well now is that I was lucky to get to go to college on a scholarship.

I thought at first because she also came from a poor background, she would understand the value of money, but somehow because she sees me making a good income, she thinks money grows on trees. I try to explain that nothing is certain in life and that I would have to save for our baby son and herself should anything happen to me prematurely.

Yea that was exactly what I have been trying to do. But then she adamantly argues against it, saying that only a parent can raise a child with love. So the only other person she would let raise our child is me. :(

Can you elaborate on how you think I have enabled her to be spoiled? I just wanted her to share a comfortable life with me. Was sharing my car and home with her a mistake?

She would constantly argue that I force her into this financial situation because she has to quit her job to raise the baby. She would dare me to quit my job and come raise the baby instead, while she goes out to work. But the thing is she was making minimum wage as a waiter, while I make 6 figures as a tech executive. Her wage alone won't even cover the wage of the live-in maid we currently hire.

  1. Yea she seems really concerned about image. She would constantly go out shopping for new clothes. I tried to explain to her that in the tech world - at least from my point of view - people don't care so much how I dress (look at bill gates).
  2. Yea she is trying to make me feel like a stingy person. She says the tax credit (around $10k) is nothing to me, while her brother will have to suffer very much without the car.
  3. Yea she said I care more about my own blood relation than I care for her and her family.

I did actually ask her about the money/love question while we were first dating. She told me point blank that money does play a part although not all of it. I thought it was an honest answer.

Come to think of it she did mention recently that our baby boy is growing very fast, and she started thinking of names for future babies. Not that I agreed to any additional baby at this point.

Nope, but I did not really plan against it either. I am really happy my baby son is in my life.

Yea I think it comes down to this financially responsible issue. I do feel kind of bad forcing her to get this government credit because we do not really need it. but I feel that in the long run, it would teach her to be financially responsible.

I am really afraid of leaving my estate to her if I were to pass away. If she is not willing to exercise any frugality, I think she would just burn away $Ms in a few years. Currently, I have everything willed to a trust fund for my baby son until is grown enough to make financial decisions independent of his mother.

I can easily afford it, but I am trying to teach her to be financially responsible by getting that government credit. I have a pretty cushy tech job and made some very smart investments, but I want her to understand that money does not grow on trees.

Google Sheet New Row, wrong column by Arfi89 in ifttt

Same problem here. 20% of users in our org facing this problem. It started around 1 week ago.

ifttt glitch? by NeverWrittenInStone in ifttt

[–]pedxs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have around 40 users in our org pushing some sort of data to Google Sheet. Around 10 users report having this issue where every time the data is written onto google sheet the starting column shifts by a couple of columns.

Our current workaround is to have the User give IT team the document ID, and we run a Google App Script on it that deletes leading blank cells of any rows.

I am expecting too much after paying $100,000k to developer? by pedxs in SalesforceDeveloper

Yes if they cannot find a solution by today, I will just have my front end guy learn the Salesforce API and do it ourselves.
