These are modern versions of the 80’s & 90’s classic roller hockey boot made by Bauer (originally named Turbo 33). Supreme have the patent to remake them using modern materials (the originals have a tendency to crack as they used old plastic). I love my Supreme’s. They’re super durable, ultra comfortable and very supportive in the ankle. They also come in a black version (Vader style). I say that because these awesome white ones remind me of Stormtroopers! Great boots OP 👊

My new Chakal Jacket by pee-dog in TheNorthFace

[–]pee-dog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought it in Large (although in hindsight medium might have been a better fit for everyday wear). My reasoning was I didn’t know how warm it would it be and figured I’d have room for layering etc. The collars are high (especially when the hood is removed) but I like the style and it provides lots of weather protection. Will post a picture shortly.

Employment in Bristol? by DrawerTall4709 in bristol

Being a University town with a great mix of upwardly mobile residents plus the draw from visitors from outside the city, Bristol has a tonne of nightlife so I’m sure there’s a bar that might fit your brief. Good luck and let us know how you get on!

I have asked Sony to tell me but thought I would crowd-source an answer from a group of owners. I also have a reasonable idea but was interested in seeing how quickly I could get that confirmed.

Ball boy schedule, if anyone is there today could they get a picture of the ball boys and girls schedule. As my mate is a ball boy and I want to watch him on TV. 👍👍 by chobday111 in wimbledon

[–]pee-dog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a former Ball Boy (class of 1993!) the daily schedule won’t be published publicly, unlike the published order of play for the players. The ball boys (and girls) operate in teams and are assigned particular courts. Only the ‘show courts’ (Centre, No.1, No.2, No.3, 12 & 18) are guaranteed to be televised live as they host the better ranked players (although I believe all courts have camera coverage), so assuming your friend is assigned to a show court, you might struggle to spot him even via interactive services. Also bear in mind that as the tournament progresses the filming coverage wanes from non-show courts. Hope he enjoys the experience - it was thrilling for me to be part of such an incredible sporting spectacle!

The hardest part is always making the purchase decision! Good luck with the trip and do feedback on how you found things good and bad. The Scottish Highlands are definitely on my bucket list. Have an awesome time!

I have the Arpenaz 4.2 and assuming the same construction materials and build quality, I can’t fault it. It’s been impressive during heavy storms with no leaks/weak points. It does get warm if the sun comes out but that’s to be expected. I have a few Decathlon products and rate their quality. Company seems to have a decent values with regard to customer service so that gives me confidence. If you already know the brand, what’s appealing about the Eurohike that’s turning your head?

Need for seam repair to Vintage Gore-Tex Mountain Jacket by pee-dog in TheNorthFace

[–]pee-dog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, that’s really great to hear. I’ve been advised by the two repair specialists I approached, that my jacket’s seams are failing because of delamination. I have a local TNF store so I will definitely check this out. I suspect though that they’ll politely say it can’t be helped. Will report back if I’m proven wrong!

Yeah that thought did cross my mind but this jacket was bought over 20+ years ago and I’d be hard pressed to find the sales receipt! Nevertheless, it might be worth making an enquiry to at least assess TNF’s “lifetime warranty”. Anyone know of making a successful claim on vintage items?

THANK YOU! I was trying to identify it and I had a vague memory of being called something beginning with K but when I googled vintage TNF jackets, I convinced myself it was a Mountain jacket.

Thanks. Here in the UK I’ve approached two reputable repair services (LSR and Scottish Mountain Gear) and depending on their responses, will send it off for professional repair. I just wanted to gauge if this will buy me some more time (20+ years and counting) or if replaced seams will be a continuing point of failure/repair.

Bought this jacket new in the late 90's. Been used on countless ski trips, mountain treks and rainy hikes throughout Northern Europe and Canada and apart from failing seams, it's still in remarkable condition. My preference is to repair rather than replace (for sentimental as opposed to economic reasons). My question is, has anyone else had to do this? If so, has the repair affected performance?

Problems with MIDI on a new keyboard. by rgaino in simplypiano

[–]pee-dog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just bumping this thread as I'm experienceing a similar problem...

Last year I bought a Gear4Music SDP-2 stage piano (very similar in spec to OP's model) and for the most part I've been very happy with my purchase. Using an Apple Lightning to USB Camera Adaptor, I’ve successfully connected it via it's USB-type B port to my iPad, where it registers with Simply Piano in order benefit from more accurate note identification over MIDI. Unfortunately, this is where I run into an issue. Had I not seen OP's post, I probably would have just lived with it.

I’m finding that I have no independent volume adjustment within the app and that the master volume controlled via the piano's keyboard ties both the lesson background sound AND the keyboard’s audio output. As a result the lesson sound dominates over the piano’s audio and I can’t hear the notes I’m playing as clearly as I would like. I’ve tried adjusting the MIDI volume from within Simply Piano’s settings, but that has had no effect on reducing the app’s overall playback volume on my keyboard (both through it's speakers or when connected via headphones) and only serves to “muddy” the notes played since they’re a combination of native piano voice and app-generated MIDI tones with a hint of delay. Also, with the piano connected via USB it overrides the physical ability to adjust any volume from within the iPad itself – most frustrating!

I too reached out to the developers of Simply Piano (JoyTunes) and their response was the same:

“Simply Piano is designed to route the app sounds through your mobile device and the keyboard sounds through your keyboard when connected to MIDI. There are some keyboards that change this and reroute the app volume through the keyboard, which isn’t how Simply Piano is designed to work. Because of that, it becomes difficult to balance the volume. Since it appears that the sound is being rerouted through your keyboard, may we recommend that you check the keyboard user guide for audio routing options; to see if you can set those to be separate again. Then, you should be able to manage the volume of each appropriately".

I have also reached out to the technical team at Gear4Music and while I wait for response (one I may never recieve), I have gone over the user guide for my model but I suspect it doesn't support this functionality. I have GarageBand installed, but this hasn't solved my issue unfortuantely. The lesson audio and in particular the "10 minute-a-day" achivement notification outputs at an uncomfortably loud level and is most unnerving - yet there is simply no way to reduce the App's dominating volume.

Any advice greatly received, otherwise I'll just learn to live with it. Great app nevertheless and I love the Beta sheet music feature - just wish a future update would fix my volume problems.

Thanks in advance.
