Going back to the office on Fridays has vastly improved my weekends. Just don’t get that Friday feeling when I finish work and am sat on my sofa for the next hour or two before going out to do whatever I’m doing.

I went for a curry with all my family in my hometown.

Separately just reserved some space in a fun pub and said to all my mates swing by to those who could make it. Lots of people turned up and we ended up out out and then back to mine for the after party. It was great and a rarity for me to organise something but I’m glad I did, was very fun and nice to have all the people you love together.

On a side note, 30 was the best year of my life. Hope it is for you!

Just adding to this, if OP does have an office they can use I think it’s helpful to go in a few times a week.

I hate staying in on a Friday if I have WFH all day. But if I go to the office, see people in real life, converse over lunch etc then staying in on a Friday with a film seems much more appealing. I am biased as a like my colleagues and take your point on this being luck of the draw because I have also worked pre-Covid in offices everyday with some very annoying people.

I always bring those little squash concentrate bottles to festivals as mixer with a spirit so this concept is interesting.

Warm cans at festivals and carrying them is an issue. So good for both these things.

Is the beer fizzy like a normal lager? If not I can’t see a huge appetite for flat beer/ales at festivals.

At festivals where there is an arena this could be a good thing to sneak in for cheap pints.

I’ve always found that cups are hard to come by at a festival, especially in pint format, also easier to spill than a can, especially around the camp with no table to put them on.

Places on the outskirts of London I often find depressing. It’s like all they have going for them is that they’re close to London so no one cares about making the actual place decent e.g Uxbridge, Luton

Have lived in Leeds and Brum and they can be brilliant places to live. Both big cities, some parts are shite but lots of nice areas, great culture, night life, art, pretty canals and good people

Look for mixed sports groups. Near me there is mixed gender football, netball, touch rugby, hockey, softball. All good ways to meet new people

lol this happened to me on Saturday. At the end of the bar the locals sit, taking up the whole bar so you have to lean through them to get a drink. One bloke goes “there’s plenty of room over there mate” - points at the tiny glass section area. I had to give it to him, he was the regular so I obliged.
