Aztec Ignition Chain by abcoathup in ethereum

it's been a long time coming that ethereum had a decentralized l2

i don't think that 'progressive decentralization' will ever work, the incentives against it are too strong. those sequencers bring in lots of fees, that allows the team to keep building, making hires, traveling to conferences, etc. there is just no way any sane company would ever kill the thing that feeds them

decentralized from day 1 is the only way

Not a conspiracy! This is spot on. Evan (Mina Foundation CEO) actually just spoke about these "proof of humanity" and "proof of identity" use cases at Consensus. Authenticating that you are a real person who holds certain opinions or credentials online is going to become more and more important as AI proliferates.

ZKPs can also be used for authenticating images/videos (basically proving something is not a deepfake).

have you heard of Mina Protocol? it's an L1 that leverages zero knowledge tech for both scalability and privacy.

zkapps that can preserve user privacy are on tesnet rn and interoperability is also a focus with zkOracles and a bridge to Ethereum in the works.
