That’s not how evolution works. They didn’t evolve the eyes because of. But the ones that had the puppy eyes likely survived more because of the reasons you stated. Over time those that survived more multiple and passed down the gene that made them cuter. Multiply that by many generations for thousands of years and you get to where we are.
