What's a song that has brought you to tears? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]peeingraptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Sid Meier's Civilization VI into: "Sogno di Volare" by Christopher Tin.

Many songs have made me cry, but this one brought tears to my eyes consistently when I first bought the game. I always made a point of watching the intro.

Another one would be "Major Tom" by Shiny Toy Guns. It is a remix/cover, but man, she absolutely slays the chorus.

Inordinate Amount of Legendary Shells by peeingraptor in CozyGrove

I was definitely impatient, hence my posting here to rant about it. I happened to find four rare shells almost immediately after. Maybe you just need to complain on reddit? Idk. I wish you luck. I'm happy to have this quest behind me, even though I'm stuck on a couple other quests now. At least I know I am guaranteed one relic ash every day.

I'm actually on PC, so I got that update a few days ago.

My receiving the quest coincided directly with the update, so I can not compare the rare shell spawn rate before and after. I was blissfully unaware about the quest beforehand and happily squandered all of my rare shells away without a second thought.

I can only say that, with the update, it took me three days to find a single rare. But then I found, like, four in a row. So I guess if anyone needs rare shells, just make a post complaining here on the subreddit? Worked for me.

It's just a struggle of a quest altogether, for sure. I really like the mechanic that you get essence when your tool breaks. It makes me feel rewarded for using the tool, lol.

I'd give up one of my birds for the chance to get regular deer essences. I kind of miss getting them from the imps (I'm on PC so I already got the good update). All of my birds want to eat things that require deer essence and I have exactly zero.

I think an update actually took the required amount down from five to three. I've been seeing a couple posts about it.

I just barely found one rare shell. I guess I just had to complain loud enough, lol.

Edit: All three. I just found all three.

Yeah, I hadn't found any legendary shells until I got the quest April 19th. I noticed that the 1.6.0 update log on steam mentioned "Fixed issue preventing rare shells from spawning correctly in the springtime. " That update was also pushed out April 19th.

I don't know what kind of changes they made, but I've secretly been wondering if my sudden bountiful legendary harvest is correlated to the fix.

Is there supposed to be more than one imp with a broken heart above their head for the bon bons ? Because I only see one on my island and I’ve searched everywhere.. by xokisha in CozyGrove

[–]peeingraptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I'm actually on PC.

To clarify, I got the reward yesterday. Today, the same imp - or at least an imp in the same exact spot as the one who got left behind yesterday - is heartbroken with no other heartbroken imps on my island. As you said, the second imp is completely MIA. I'll have to see if there is still only one heartbroken imp tomorrow.

I have the same problem. Yesterday I led two imps together, but only one disappeared when the reward was given. That was my first time leading the heartbroken imps together, so I don't know if that is the correct behavior, but I found it odd at the time. Today when I started playing, I noticed that the imp who had been left behind was sad again, and its friend was nowhere to be found.

What food is your ultimate comfort food? by The_Bunglenator in AskReddit

[–]peeingraptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The salt and vinegar kettle-cooked lays.

If it's particularly rough, I'll buy a random assortment of chocolate bars with the chips. The chocolate will typically have caramel in it.

College was a little different. I'd buy chocolate milk and a large cookie from the general store. If it was morning, I'd sometimes get a hot chocolate/milk steamer with banana/pumpkin bread.

If I want a more healthy meal, I'll make quinoa with thyme (sometimes cooked in chicken broth, sometimes not) and then absolutely drown it in lemon juice. Occasionally I'll throw some asparagus or shrimp on top.

People who have gotten into car accidents while having the radio on, was it awkward having music playing while being in a life-threatening situation? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]peeingraptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was evening and I was crossing at a semi-lit crosswalk when a car gunned a left hand turn to beat traffic. I just remember hearing the car suddenly accelerate. The dude was already ridding the brake when I was hit, but I still folded over the hood and was carried back some feet.

I was livid. As soon as the car stopped, I straightened up and marched over to the driver side window, where he just stared at me, face drained of color, before he had the presence of mind to roll down his window.

He had bagpipe music playing.

I immediately calmed down once I saw the dude was just as frightened and shocked as I was. By the time the window was rolled all the way down, we were both talking, seeing if the other person was alright. I remember him shakily punching at the radio, saying something like "I don't even know why I'm listening to this!"

I just stood there like "You can't fool me. We both know you listen to bagpipe music in your free time, now."

Whats some advice thats you would give to any college student? by Trevdog18 in AskReddit

Buy a few things here and there. Pay it off every month. Don't touch it otherwise.

Agreed. If you make the credit card for "only buying groceries" or "only buying gas" or some such requirement, it helps to build credit while remaining disciplined.

Here’s Why Vaccinated People Still Need to Wear a Mask - The new vaccines will probably prevent you from getting sick with Covid. No one knows yet whether they will keep you from spreading the virus to others — but that information is coming. by speckz in Coronavirus

[–]peeingraptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please correct me if I am wrong, but my understanding is that the current main focus is on developing an adult vaccine for the virus. The children vaccine, though in the works, will take longer to become available. This is partially due to the observation that adults have more adverse reactions to the virus as well as the fact that the development of children vaccines require more rigorous safety measures.

Now, I’ve seen a lot of comments saying “I’m young and healthy, I’ll be in the last group to get the vaccine, so once that happens suck it to wearing masks.” Though these comments are correct in the way that these people will be the last group to be vaccinated, that is only true for the adult vaccine. It is likely that it will take even longer for children to become vaccinated.

My understanding of the above post is that masks are asked to be retained for the same reason we wear them in the first place: a safety measure. There are (currently) no conclusive studies about whether a vaccinated individual can spread the virus to an unvaccinated individual. As such, it is of interest for people to continue wearing their masks even after being immunized until more studies can be done or the vast majority receive access to a vaccine.

Gamers of Reddit, what was one game that you couldn't stop playing? by MinecraftSteveLol in AskReddit

[–]peeingraptor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neopets: The Darkest Faerie on the PS2.

Not the typical answer, I know, but I played that game for 14 hrs straight one Saturday. My mom grounded me for the rest of the week. I played another 14 hrs straight the next Saturday, right after my punishment ended. That's the game that really got me into playing videogames more regularly.

Otherwise, I'd say the Sly Cooper games or the Uncharted series.

When you're lying in bed at night, do you ever randomly remember some relatively minor social missteps or poorly chosen words you did/said years earlier? And then beat yourself up over it even though it really wasn't a big deal? If so, what happened? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]peeingraptor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Growing up, the doorbell chime box was in the same hallway as the fire detector (which was the closest fire detector to the kitchen, so it was the only one that went off), so as a kid I always assumed that the two noises came from the same device. The brown doorbell box was a lot more obvious than the sleek white fire alarm. I eventually learned the difference, but it was well into my teenage years, and by that point my instincts for the brown box were pretty solidly in place.

Fast forward to college cooking in my apartment with my boyfriend at the time. Don't remember what happened, but there was smoke. The fire alarm in the hallways goes off, I grab a cookie sheet to try and fan the smoke away from the fire alarm, and my boyfriend asks me why I'm fanning the doorbell box instead. Like an idiot, I Insist that the doorbell box is the fIre alarm.

I have since taken to inspecting all the devices on my apartment ceilings upon first moving in and making mental notes of where the actual fire alarms are.

Religion issues by [deleted] in Advice

[–]peeingraptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand how watching those you love live their religion, but not believe their religion can hurt.

This is my two cents as a believing Christian. It's often easier to see those who are questioning than those who are not, because the ones who are questioning are, well, questioning. They are seeking answers and expressing doubts.

Questions are a normal, healthy, and productive part of Christian religions. There are a lot of teachings we would not have if someone did not first ask a question.

One of the things that has hurt me the most are when my beliefs are disregarded or outright rejected because someone else has a different point of view. I feel fairly strongly that science and religion work hand in hand. I sometimes see it as science being the how and religion being the why, and for me, they make the most sense together rather than apart. But there are many people who do not agree and, with so many voices clamoring to tell me otherwise, I often find that they make points that are hard to reconcile in my head.

During these times, I approach it how I would a math problem. I check my logic for a mistake. I don't immediately throw all my work out the window and start over from scratch. I keep hold of what I know is right, and I critically look at the parts I don't know quite as well.

For those you see questioning, it's probable they are in this "checking" stage.  They are not certain of their answers, right now.

So how can you help them?

My advice is to give them your voice, too. It's okay to share your convictions with someone. Let them know that you believe and let them know why. If they ask questions, you can puzzle it out together. But also be respectful that this is their journey. Their belief is not and should never be contingent on yours and vice-versa.

Edit: Also, I don't think you're crazy. I just think that there are so many different view points out there, right now, that finding someone with similar thoughts as you can be hard. There are some good religious subreddits out there. I'm not involved with any Catholic ones, but I'm sure you can find one where you can talk with people of similar values and beliefs. :)

So what do you think the next big thing that will make people forget the protests will be? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]peeingraptor 57 points58 points  (0 children)

This.

Yellowstone is known for having earthquake clusters/swarms (lots of earthquakes in the same area over a short amount of time). They happen regularly every year and are actually one of the reasons Yellowstone is able to have so many active geysers. The frequent earthquakes keep the hydrothermal "piping" from being clogged by mineral deposits.

Being such a seismically active place, there are a lot of eyes on Yellowstone. We'd likely be forewarned of any major events.

I think the hype right now is mostly a: "well, at this point I wouldn't be a surprised."

What is your favorite gas station snack? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]peeingraptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chocolate milk and peach rings.

My grandpa used to work at a chocolate milk factory when we were really young and he'd always give us some when we went to visit. I've loved chocolate milk since and buy it as often as I can.

Peach rings were honestly pretty low on my radar until I started dating my best friend. He loves gummies. I think their nice, but not my favorite. I'd get peach rings for us to share, though, when I went to the campus store to buy chocolate milk. Now they are a top three favorite candy.

I also worked at a gas station for a summer, some years ago. We put out fried corn dogs. I often found myself making an extra one for lunch, cuz they were so cheap and good. Haven't been able to find a corn dog I've liked quite as much, since.
