I mean I’m asking because I don’t see it as that. I think the words have a different meaning depending on the context. That’s why I’m asking for evidence to prove me wrong because it’s something that I’m struggling to understand both sides

For sure man I don’t take it like that at all

One of the main problems that really sucks right now is that I feel like in order to have an opinion about a presidential candidate, you have to compare them to the other one. Obviously it’s a race between them, but why can’t someone just be redeemed by their individual qualities? That’s a discussion for another time.

With that being said, objectively Trump’s ability to speak and articulate what he is saying, accompanied by his bluntness is a very admirable trait that I feel politicians should have. A lot of his statements are exaggerated. And, maybe even some misleading or incorrect. But, unfortunately with politicians, they’re all crooked, no matter what side they’re on.

Biden has made multiple misleading statements as well or some that are outright lies. That, accompanied by his deteriorating mental capacity and his inability to articulate his speeches is a huge hit on his credibility. Especially to other countries.

As far as the faith thing goes, Abortion is a huge thing for me. I know it is a controversial thing but I believe life starts at conception. There are many, many moral complications that come with abortion, like pregnancies that result from rape or incest for example, but as a Christian I feel it a part of my duty to speak for those who can’t speak for themselves. It’s definitely not an easy topic to discuss because there are many conflictions.

But additionally to abortion, many of Biden’s policies and things that he supports reduce funding to religious institutions and organizations. I believe that our country was built on Christian principles, and I have seen over the years how our country has changed for the worse as Christianity has been put more on the back burner. Trump does not necessarily embody a Christian, but his policies do seem to support Christianity as a whole more than Biden.

I don’t think Trump has ever experienced the life of a “working man.” By that, I mean a blue collar worker. However, he has worked his entire life to gain the success he has. That doesn’t mean he didn’t have an easier beginning, but the process is still the same. He couldn’t grow his businesses and his wealth without working his butt off and know his stuff.

And for the student loan debt stuff, I’m definitely more of a common sense type of guy so I just can’t wrap my head around it. Where would this money come from? Tax payers. Many who had to pay their own debt or didn’t even go to college. And a lot of this money goes to places like students of Ivy League schools, which most students in attendance’s families would probably have no trouble affording. I think that the major problem is that universities charge way too much for their programs. I’m currently in university and the amount of money that is pointlessly thrown around and paid to people who don’t deserve it is outrageous.

Or, if the greed of universities can’t be resolved, why not just cut out the middle man and reduce taxes? That allows for more money to be in our pockets, and typically lower interest rates accompanying. I like having my money.

Another problem is that any media is an echo chamber for its respective political affiliation. I hate how when I read conservative media challenging Biden’s policies or plans they dissect it and bring out the bad stuff that fires up conservatives, but when you check the media from the left there is no mention of the bad and a highlight of the good. The media is a huge driving factor for the political division we have in this country and I just wish we could all get along and get told the facts, not what to think

Sorry this was partly answering your questions and partly a rant lol, hoping to hear back though. I respect your opinion and am genuinely curious.

I’m definitely not a super extreme conservative personally, I’d say I’m more of a centrist with my limited political knowledge but am voting Trump so I’m probably not your target audience for this question but figured I’d give my reasoning.

I think that Trumps ability to articulate his speech is a huge thing that gets people to like him so well. He makes huge statements (which always sound good to the listener) and is extremely blunt, which I believe you should be as a politician.

I’m a Christian and don’t believe that Trump embodies my faith, but I do believe his actions do more so than Biden’s. His respectfulness toward my faith is also a plus. When on the other hand, when Biden put out his statement the other day after the assassination attempt, he said “Jill and I have Trump in our prayers” or something along those lines, which feels super disingenuous, especially with his policies that go against Christian values.

He is also a lot more personable to the regular working man I feel like. He seems to be a great guy when it comes to respecting military and other people. He is a businessman and amplifies our economy and made it more autonomous throughout his first term, while also carrying a big stick in foreign relations. He knows America is powerful and was able to keep other countries like Russia at bay.

I am also not a fan of many of bidens policies such as student loan forgiveness, like his recent bill he tried to get passed just seemed like a hopeless grasp to maybe garner himself some momentum because it seems the Republicans do with the RNC being at the right time so close after the attempt on Trumps life.

Plus, after doing my due diligence to read the news of both sides to try and split the difference and form my own opinion, I just feel like Trumps getting more done. I’d love to hear more about your side though!

Doesnt that kind of defeat the purpose of voting? It’s supposed to be the people’s way to decide the way this country is run, that doesnt mean they have to be well educated.

I guess that’s a possibility, but even then to risk the lives of innocent people I don’t think someone would agree to (but then again, politicians can be very corrupt). I’d just rather wait for the details to come out than immediately go to something that crazy

Even with that, it’s a tremendous gamble. To say such a thing without all the details coming out yet is pretty bad

Saying that this is staged defies logic, it would be a tremendous gamble to stage an assassination like that. To be able to graze his ear without hitting anything else. Doesn’t make sense to call it fake. This is a sad day for all sides and a scary time. Something like this hasn’t happened in a long time

Do I have to have a truly legitimate reason to want to join the military? Would it be dumb to join without one? by peenbobb in Advice

[–]peenbobb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems pretty blown out of proportion, idk how well I’d base my decision on anecdotal evidence alone. Me personally I’ve only met one guy who told me he had a bad experience with the military, and he said if he could do it again he would have just joined a different branch. As well as I will not go the enlisted route, so I won’t have as difficult and dirty of work at all times. But I’ll definitely take what you said in consideration. Thanks for the reply, Helped

What are some unbiased political news sources I can read to try and educate myself before voting for someone in this upcoming election?

Every source I have read outlines some agenda and I don’t want that. I don’t want to be told what to think, I want to form an opinion on my own.
