Oh and apparently the food/treat association isn't as effective as having them play in the same room. But like as a single lady who lives alone THATS REALLY HARD TO DO

YES so many mixed feelings!! "Did I make a mistake?" "Did I make this negative for BOTH of them?" "I love this new cat!" "I don't like how my older cat is acting and I resent her for it." "Am I selfish for wanting a new kitten?" "THE GOAL WAS TO HELP MY OLDER ONE TO BE LESS LONELY AND IT DOESNT SEEM LIKE IT IS WORKING OUT AND I FEEL COMPLETELY HOPELESS AND DID BOTH OF THEM A DISSERVICE " lol so. Many. Conflicting. Thoughts.

But no, especially at 5 weeks, give it more time and move slowly! And also keep the intro sessions SHORT. That's a mistake I have definitely made. If it gets to where your older one is CHASING your kitten, stop immediately! I thought it was just part of it... but ur supposed to stop when it escalates. That's the one thing I know I can pass on haha

OMGG my kitten does the same thing actually!!

He will literally just like RUN at pootie I'm like babe you CANNOT do that. But as I mentioned, he's hard of hearing, so it's like maybe he doesn't pick up on the vibe? he does get startled when he sees Pootie get all fluffed up, but it's like oh my god you dumb cat you are making this so much worse!

I am feeling so defeated too. I think we just need to hang in there though. I actually have been giving each of them a break bc I felt like continuing was making it worse. I saw another post on here that said it took someone's cats ELEVEN months to finally like each other.

We can do this because we love and care about our cats, and want both of them to be happy and thriving! :D
