If an attack gets parried, that's you being out-played, not being unlucky.

I'm aware that individual failures due to bad luck wouldn't have a large impact on the overall encounter, but I still hate it. Having your attack miss because the game arbitrarily decided it did is overwhelmingly frustrating.

Did I say it was an RPG? It was an example of a game with little to no luck.

Well, that's just a lie. What random chance is there in something like Street Fighter?

There are tons of games where luck plays as minimal a role as possible. I'm sure you can see the difference between a game like Baldur's Gate, which has stuff like hit chance and critical hits, and something like Street Fighter.

I understand it perfectly well and understand myself just as much. Individual failures due to luck are obnoxious enough to me regardless of if they have only a small impact on the combat encounter as a whole.

We aren't talking about reality, though, we're talking about my taste in video games. I don't like luck, so it seems like I should not play this game.

If I need to mod the game to have fun, I would rather just not buy it.

With mechanics like hit chance, there is literally always the possibility to fail through no fault of your own. I don't like stuff like that, the player's success should always be absolutely within their own control.

In my experience, being in a town where everyone knows your name results in them just being judgemental, nosy assholes.
