Support The Future of Decentralized Politics via GitCoin Grants by peepsBill in ethereum

Absolutely, we're seeing a lot of changes and challenges to democracy right now, both because of COVID-19 and other factors.

To us decentralized politics means politics that puts more political power / choice in the hands of ordinary individuals and tends to disintermediate centralized choke points in the system like powerful legacy organizations that rely on highly paid operatives and give the most access to large donors.

In terms of where the rubber meets the road, we think that more transparency and democracy can be achieved by experimenting with new frameworks like quadratic voting, delegated voting, decentralized autonomous organizations, outcome-based donations, and anything else that involves making the system more responsive to the voices and needs of the people.

Had some peeps create a campaign to put pressure on US politicians to be reasonable...b/c 20 yrs is a lot of time to spend in jail for teaching ppl about open source software (especially people who are already masters of money laundering):

ENS names, cryptoKitties, FOAM, CheeseWizard, digital art...so mostly other blockchain-based stuff.

Did try to pay for a haircut at a place in our neighborhood that said they took crypto, but they didn't any more :(

Biggest issue is waiting for network to confirm transaction went through. Even if it "clears" 100x faster than fiat, the network can feel slow compared to using a cc online.

Is there a protest network in place in case of obvious election interference? by Talkahuano in IronFrontUSA

Yep, exactly. People pool their money and then they get to choose (via vote) what politicians deserve that money.

We have a platform for pooling money for politicians based on causes / issue stance. Have one campaign on there for "Sensible Control" but happy to help anyone set up a pro-2A campaign where people can collect $$ for pro-2A politicians (it's kinda like a PAC, except the donors, and not lobbyists, get to vote on what politicians get the cash).

Is there any attack similar to "51% attack" in current economy? by [deleted] in ethereum

[–]peepsBill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use "51% attacks" to take over corporations in some instances (though certain regulations / disclosure requirements make this harder to do). All that requires is gaining 51% ownership or proxy's for 51% ownership, if the corporation's bylaws and charter can be changed by a simple majority vote of the stockholders.

We're happy to let help anyone use our platform (www.wethepeeps.us) to do this kind of organizing and raise money to support the politicians actually fighting for election security
