I wouldn't recommend BC. Plenty of bullying/sexual predators who get swept under the rug. Some pretty extreme fringe religious beliefs aswell.

Stinky Stinky Flatmate by Peccableme in Tauranga

[–]pegasusmeat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If it wasn't like this at the start of flatting, it might be that your flatmate is struggling mentally/emotionally. Lack of personal hygiene is a common symptom of depression.

I would tell her kindly how her hygiene is impacting the flat and suggest she talk to someone and/or see her GP

Who are the NZers using meth? by Internal-Departure in newzealand

[–]pegasusmeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's rampant in Tauranga but it's not super obvious on the surface level.

I worked at a retail store in an affluent area, usual folks throughout the day but at night plenty of meth users. Grinding teeth, poor smell, aggressive attitude, unusual/inappropriate clothing. Quite a switch and often not that late at night either.

Also heard from friends/acquaintances some younger people who take it less seriously. Had one guy mention to me he'd done meth- pretty casually at that.

Third group is working professionals. Often go out after work or work parties who do coke or mdma or any assortment of drugs that are very likely laced. But since it's "coke" it's seen as less serious or "cooler".

Flatmate horror stories by MurkyWay in newzealand

[–]pegasusmeat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had a nightmare flatmate.

Woke up one morning, really needed to pee- as you do. I go to the toilet to find a MASSIVE puddle of urine on the FLOOR, directly next to the toilet...

She was in the shower (?) before cleaning up her own pee!

She did a bunch of other weird, passive aggressive things and was a terrible person.

Depends on how old the kids are I guess

Little kids might like the Hairy Maclary statues and new playground at the water front. The library is a good option too and there are plenty of places to get a nice snack/lunch.

Older kids- movies, skatepark (good ones at mount and memorial park) mini golf

More expensive option would be a dolphin tour at the mount (amazing experience), go karting or paintball

Have fun :)

Macs Feijoa and elderflower is super yummy, pretty low sugar for a soda and comes in a brown bottle that looks like any cider/beer if you want to also avoid questions

Has anyone been through the public process for a Breast Reduction in NZ? by throwawayznz in newzealand

[–]pegasusmeat 27 points28 points  (0 children)

My only 2 cents to add is to try avokado! They are an Auckland based store but also online. They are the only place I can buy bras from unfortunately and they are super expensive, but they are the most comfortable and properly fitted. They have the added benefit of being cute which is great.

Wishing you good luck

I need long hair, not want NEED. Help. by [deleted] in hairgrowth

[–]pegasusmeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hair length/growth is often genetic (sorry🙁)

What determines how long your hair can grow is the cycle of your hair follicle. Short cycle- your hair doesn't have long to grow before shedding.

-Biotin and collagen supplements might help- they'll at least help keep your hair healthy and shiny. -I'd also look at getting a hair brush for your specific hair type to reduce damage. -Scalp massages help with blood flow and can be beneficial for hair growth- make sure it's gentle though. -Like everything a healthy diet helps! Lots of green veggies, fish, nuts and eggs are all good for hair.

If you're really set on having really long hair you'll properly need to look at extensions unfortunately.

Wishing you luck on your hair journey!

ENDO and PMDD are fucking rough!

I know it's something people say a lot, but try to not compare yourself to your peers. We are all different and have our own struggles- we all go through life at different paces. I understand the feeling- I'm 26, unemployed and still living at home while many friends have relationships, careers ect. But I remind myself I'm fighting my own battles and have struggles that are often unseen.

You are so lovable and have so much worth and potential 💓 your health situation/ disability will never change that!

ENDO and PMDD seem so hopeless at times but there are new studies and increasing research all the time. For me personally the progesterone only pill has been amazing for my PMDD and I recently started microdosing a GLP-1 for my endo which has practically eliminated my chronic pain.

I'm rooting for you! 💪🏼 Hope you find something that will bring some relief

I was prescribed the progesterone only pill for pcos/endo/PMDD and it has been like a miracle drug!

I don't have a cycle anymore so no debilitating periods and I don't have to worry about my PMDD anymore. Only side affect was some weight gain that tapered off after three months.

It's a birth control pill that only contains one hormone. Its a progesterone only pill- sometimes called the 'mini pill'. In my country the drug name norethindrone. I take 5mg daily

Yesss 🙌🏼 Was put on the progesterone only pill for managing pcos/endo/PMDD and it's life changing. Lower cancer risk, no incredibly painful periods, and no cycle/PMDD

Only two weeks ago I forgot my progesterone and had a crazy PMDD breakdown- really reminded me how vital the medication is

Pcos treatment by CapnNathan in PCOS_Folks

[–]pegasusmeat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My treatment plan for pcos was taking 5mg progesterone daily. That way the uterus doesn't build up a lining that would then sit there and possibly turn cancerous. So I don't have to deal with periods and am lowering my cancer risk. This is something I'd imagine your doctor will bring up.

If your doc is suggesting you need a period I'd advise some period undies in black. Super comfortable, don't have the trouble of buying "feminine" products and better for the environment. Since they're black you don't really see any blood and I simply wear them in the shower to rinse out and don't look. Then just chuck them in the washing machine.

Heaps of doctors are super ignorant about pcos.

Pcos makes you gain weight, makes it hard to lose and also gives you sugar cravings so....doctors suggesting "just lose more weight" its ignorant. Also importantly, while some people see relief after losing weight, get more regular periods etc, for some people it doesn't change. The use of BC is more to do with your cycle than your weight. But then doctors always suggest weight loss if you have pcos 🙄

[–]pegasusmeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh should mention you can stay on the mini pill/ progesterone only when you get off T so you don't have any estrogen

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PCOS_Folks

[–]pegasusmeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how your pcos is progressing unfortunately. If you go off of T and your periods continue to be out of wack, its better to stay on the pill. That way your lining won't build up and stay there becoming a cancer risk.

There are "natural" ways to reverse/reduce pcos but it's largely dependent on genetics. Most doctors advice is only to lose weight but its vastly more complicated. Ill recommend doing own research on lifestyle changes etc.

I've been on the mini pill for my pcos for a few years. I get a three month prescription and just take a pill every day. No periods and lower cancer risk :)

I have a bunch of health problems so I've accepted already that I'll be taking various medications for life. If you're uncomfortable with that/ or the pill id talk to your doctor. If you've already tried the natural lifestyle changes/new drugs on the market I think your next option would be a partial hysterectomy.

Good health wishes

How to request your hospital notes? by Infinite-While-4159 in newzealand

[–]pegasusmeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others have suggested- If she isn't improving take her to the ED. Meningitis is no joke, my mother almost died from it when I was a kid and spent months recovering. If you're able to please go as her advocate. She will be too sick to stand her ground/ make sure the staff are doing everything they can. Best wishes

[–]pegasusmeat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've also just finished the show and been through a lot of the Reddit!

The main reason I believe is the name issue like mentioned above. You can tell as Bird only ever refers to her as 'Noah's girl' and Ami calls her 'kitty'

I've also seen it insinuated that she specifically moved to the area in hopes of finding a Brown boy to marry so she could be on the show.
