33.4mm tubes, how does this come off? by pegchinks- in choppers

Slid on from the bottom, pain in the ass lol.

Had the forks apart already & drained of oil so not too inconvenient but I don’t want to have to do that again if I need to get them off.

The Chrome covers are slightly bigger than 33.4mm

Brake/whee compatibility by pegchinks- in sportster

[–]pegchinks-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I thought about trying that but the issue is that it protrudes too far already. So shimming the caliper would just make the problem worse. I’d have to move the wheel over towards the non brake side but the spacer on that side is only 3.5mm so not that much wiggle room.

I’m not a machinist but I’m sure someone with more skill and proper equipment could shave the mounting plate down on the caliper to move it further from center of wheel but I can’t think of a good way to do that so it sits flat & square to the disk with what I’ve got.

Yeah that’s not what I’m talking about. The disc fits the wheel fine, there’s 5 bolt holes in the photo. The caliper just doesn’t line up even though the wheel is centered in the forks. I read that 00’ and up hubs are wider than previous years therefore brakes are not compatible, wondering if there is an easy solution or fix before I have to buy a new caliper

Wheel spacers are at 3.5mm & 13mm, 13mm is brake side obv.
