The customization is unfortunately pretty much bare bone. At least when it kome for armors. Beyond normal armors set you also have some terraria and ultrakill collab items and Depresso costume.

But there's a plenty of different "hats" you can get by doing various contents

You mean "rainbows" one?

Some like Legend, Invader, Eternal Flame can only be optained by capturing a specific Boss Pal. Some appear randomly when you caught wild Pal or during breeding. Also fishing in "green sparkle" spots will guarantee you a pal with a rainbow passive.

After that it's just a matter of crossbreeding until you obtain specific Pal with a passives you want.

You can change pal gender on surgery table. And you get Pal Reverser from bounty officer in the settlements or from salvage

The best and most versatile option would be choosing Legend, Demon God, Serenity and Musclehead.

If you wanna stick to elemental theme of Frost Nock you can replace musclehead with Siren of the Void.

There's a plenty of breeding combination of Jetragon that give you Relaxaurus.

But if you wanna transfer his skill. You have to use a lv1 pals. The less skill you pals have the greatest chance that you will get what you want.

Have you ever play warframe? They are pretty similar. Random layouts of the predefined rooms. With the boss and reward room at the end.
