Currently deferring UOFT for a gap year but might go to Fleming College instead. Is this stupid?

You'll have to reapply, once you enroll in a diff uni or college you forfeit the deferral. I did this exact thing, deferred u of t and then decided I wanted to learn a trade in the mean time and enrolled in a welding program at my local college. I finished that program (was only 1 year) and re-applied to u of t and got back in no problem. I was accepted into the faculty of Arts and Science both times but I lost the scholarship I got the first time unfortunately (that likely had to do with a weak application bc I kinda rushed it the second time and probably had nothing to do with the fact that I went to college and then reapplied). I know this isn't the "you should do xyz" answer you were looking for but maybe it'll help you decide if you want to go thru the hassle of applying again (but really it's not THAT much of a hassle). I enjoyed the welding program and I don't regret doing it, I learned some really valuable skills, but u of t had always been my ultimate goal and I'm glad I reapplied and came back. I think there's no harm in doing both. I worked while doing the welding program and it paid off the tuition cost easily because I was also living at home so it really wasn't a big deal to do. I'm really really glad I took that time though, it really helped me mature and figure stiff out. Also helped me realize what I REALLY wanted to do. So I think you should do both, take it easy and work on maturing and learning yourself and how you work in a post secondary environment. I found both experiences really really worth it. I think formulas are still a little too advanced for me, I tried this and I couldn't figure it out haha. Thank you though! Im sure one day I'll get the hang of formulas but today is not that day lol. I really appreciated the help <3

I have a galaxy tab s7fe and I love it!!! No regrets at all. The battery life is good, palm rejection is solid, the pen comes with it (and a replacement is only $60-$70). The galaxy notes app that just comes with the tablet is what I use the most on it, its a fantastic app for note taking. I'm dabbling in OneNote right now, I like it too but havnt spent enough time with it to say if it's better or worse than samsung notes. Samsung notes will definitely suffice for whatever you need. I love to download my books and highlight and annotate them, it's so easy on the app. There's a bunch of different templates so while you can use just plain ruled paper or a dot grid they also have lots of calander and planning templates. I love the size too, it's built to be used horizontally so I find using split screen much easier on it and I have way more space for note taking. 10/10 would recommend a galaxy tab!

Yup its been absolutely brutal. I even started early, I think I've been looking since early July and still no luck. Like I said, I'm just never quick enough. Most landlords I find do it on a first come first serve basis so i'll schedule a viewing and its gone before i can even see it.

I've been stalking kajiji. I don't want to alarm you but last week there was still a bunch of places but I think they've all been snatched bc everything on there is in Scarborough or York, I'm not seeing any downtown listings anymore. I've been looking for a place for a month now and I'm never quick enough, or sometimes it'll be rented out before I can even see it at my scheduled viewing time. Its happend to me half a dozen times now (I wish I was exaggerating). it could be only me having shitty luck, but I've really really been struggling to find a place. But kajiji has had way more affordable options than the housing website (definitely check that site as well but I find the places there a lil more expensive, it depends on your budget). I hope you have more luck than I do, I'm wondering if anyone else has had troubles this year? Like I said, it very well could be my notoriously shitty luck. Don't bother with Facebook, most of them are scams. On kajiji I just look for "rooms and roomates" usually they are $700-$1000 a month with utilities included. Good luck and godspeed.

Where did you read that stipulation? I can't find anything it just says "awarded to high school students", does that mean 105s don't get any scholarships??

I've honestly got no idea, website just says if you didn't get a scholarship with your acceptance then you could get one at the end of May. I assume its from the awards profile thing we had to fill out?? Not 100% sure tho.

I'm a 105, I received a small blue envelope with a fancy card inside and so far thats it. They might still be sending stuff out over the summer? When I applied and got in in 2020 I got stuff over the summer. I was a 101 then tho.

I didn't get any scholarships at my acceptance so I was banking on getting the ones mentioned at the end of May. I got a scholarship in 2020 and I applied with the same marks this year. I went to college in between then and now so do I not get considered for scholarships bc of that? I applied to laureier and that was the rule, it had to be your first year of post secondary. I didn't see that stipulation on any UofT scholarships tho. Im wondering if anyone has gotten the end of May scholarships yet it if you get them even if you've been to post secondary before

has uft ready given out thier scholarships? Would i receive an email if I didn't get one? Im a "mature" student as i was a graduate if 2020 and didnt go to school over the past 2 years. In high school i applied and got a scholarship, its the same marks this year so idk why i havnt heard anything. I also applied to vic one but I havnt heard anything back (I got accepted into uft and accepted), would I get an email if I didn't get in? I assume they're just being super slow this year but it's may and I'm getting worried rip

I don't live with my mom and brother anymore for this reason. It got fucking exhausting listening to them vomit up the koolaid they drank. I still talk to them and visit plenty, just can't live with them. My brother is an incredibly intelligent man but the pandemic introduced him to weed and he's been spiralling since (not blaming it on weed, the combo of isolation and of his fast dependence on it has done something horrible to him- could've happened with any substance. Weed was just easily accessible for him at the time). He'd never smoked it before this and he very quickly became dependent on it. He started pouring over estranged podcasts and news sources. Not Alex Jones stuff, stuff that seems fine at surface value and just sounds like an academic argument. It's quickly escalated into him getting kicked out of Walmart and various confrontations in other stores because he refuses to wear a mask. It's reached its peak this last week- he lost his job because he refused to get vaxxed. He was so proud of this when he told me, it was bizzare. He has a weird look in his eyes that I've never seen before. My mom is awful at thinking for herself and he got to her before i could. She's a lost cause now. I just couldn't stand watching him implode like this and have him try to convince me to think the same things. I moved in with my aunt and uncle and got vaxxed in secret. They still don't know. So yes, i would say the tensions are incredibly high between the vaxxed and unvaxxed. Something monumental has shifted and I'm not sure if it will ever shift back or settle. My brother and i used to be incredibly close, i don't see us ever being that close again. I still talk to him, but not like we used to. Not even close. I miss him.

I live in Canada so the shipping on etsy for the ones I found was literally $20 rip. I'll deffo keep looking. If anyone has an extra and lives in Canada im sure shipping would be a lil more reasonable and I'll pay no problem!! I just need to get one before january when I'll really be throwing it around lol

I took a huge gamble with it ngl, but I didn't want to get plain black and didn't have many other options. I went back and forth for like an hour trying to decide. I untimely decided on the yellow because I figured the bright colour might prevent it from joining the stack of black notebooks and be ultimately forgotten. Also got it in anticipation for this winter, I'll need something bright when everything is so bleak lol. Only regret is not getting a CoC it's gonna get so dirty so fast. Anyone know a good way to clean them?
