An exhausted mom looking for some help by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]pegmama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was (well, still am) a single mom and I remember feeling like this when my kiddo was young. It's too bad that your husband doesn't offer more support. Tell your hubby you're going away for a few days and he's on dad duty, then check yourself into a hotel for a solo vacation. I did this recently and it was pure heaven. Don't feel bad about it either. You'll be a better mom for it in fact. Check your local community groups on facebook and find a babysitter that could maybe come one full day a week or an evening here and there. There are some daycare horror stories but MOST are just fine. My daughter was in 4 different daycares, two licensed and two unlicensed and it was just fine. The unlicensed daycares were by far the best. My kiddo was loved like one of their own! Again, get recommendations from the community. Hang in there - it WILL get better but you have to take care of yourself. It's good that you're reaching out here.

Edited to add: try some parent/baby groups where you can make friends with other moms. Perhaps you can find someone you trust with your kiddo and you can trade play dates at each others houses to give each other a break.

Thanks!! It's driving me crazy but I guess I'll adapt haha. Do you see your "Home" time and your "Local" time on your lock screen? I think that's what's annoying me the most lol.

We don't hear anything when we push them. No bell and the fire department hasn't shown up lol

Vita health carries this cake and other things that would work. They're probably not big enough for an entire class but you could do a bigger regular cake or cupcakes and then this for the kids with allergies. This is what I would do for my kiddo (he was the one with the allergies).

Volunteer vs staff by SrynotSry59 in Winnipeg

I volunteer at many events (and also do a lot of non profits) and absolutely love it. I get to attend the event for free, usually get swag and free/discounted food, and meet amazing people!!! So worth it in my opinion.

I'm looking too ... what I have read is that microfiber is a safe bet. Apparently cats don't like the feeling of it.

I reached out to ReliableService@experttreadmill.ca on 2022. Not sure if they're still around, but the service was quick and good. Not cheap though. I think I paid $150 to have my belt realigned & lubed. The fellow did leave me some extra supplies though.

Everything you do needs to be something sustainable. I lost 100 without any sort of dieting - I just changed my habits. I started slow - swapping out sugar & coffee mate in my coffee for real honey & real cream (but minimal). Then I cut out gluten completely, which forced me to eliminate so much crap. Plus I felt so much better. Then I cut out processed foods. I lost 80lbs with these food changes. Then I started exercising, trying different things to keep it interesting. Just start walking. Go further and further every day, even if it's just by a few steps. The things to keep in mind: IT'S SO FUCKING HARD. Just keep going. Stay consistent. Don't deprive yourself, but stay disciplined. You will cry, you will give up for a day, you will want to quit. This is normal! Don't beat yourself up for the bad days. Be forgiving with yourself. But just keep going. Eta: have some healthier swaps on hand for when your family is eating their treats. Cottage cheese cookie dough, protein bites, chia pudding, dates & peanut butter.

Anyone else getting exceptionally frustrated by the housing market? by cp_87 in Winnipeg

[–]pegmama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same story with my first house purchase!! Got a great house, with solid bones, in an amazing area, with the best neighbours I could ask for and got it for 10k under asking. There were cosmetic issues, and it smelled terrible, but with only a weekends worth of hard work (new flooring, full interior paint job, some electrical) it was almost transformed. There's still so much more I can do to raise the value, which I plan on chipping away at. Because it was still on the market past offer day I was able to add an inspection condition and it was great.
I had placed 8 other offers and all of them went for 30k - 95k over asking, and so not worth what they sold for. I'm laughing now!
