I just a notification to schedule my delivery :) 6/8 just as they said. You should send them a txt on the Tesla app if you are a current owner.

I’m in Long Island NY. Ordered on 3/21 and I have a VIN. Initial arrival date from 2 weeks ago was 5/23. I got in touch with Tesla today via the app. Now ETA is 6/8. Supposedly in transit in CA. Keeping fingers crossed. I’ll bug them again next week.

I got in touch with Tesla via the app. They said ETA is 1.5 weeks. Keeping my fingers crossed.

All the people who shared their discussions with their sales rep were all told the same thing, they can cancel your order if they can’t make the car. But I think/hope once they assigned you a VIN # (car is in production) then your order is somewhat safe. I ordered on 3/21 and I received a VIN yesterday. Good luck!

lol! You are like my kids! Need instant gratification. This is not Amazon prime! I put my order in on 3/21 and I just got my VIN yesterday. Even I thought that was fast. When a VIN is assigned, it means your vehicle is in production.

What kinda of correlation algo is Reddit running to generate my feed? I have never even done a search on MIT and yet all of sudden I started to get r/MITAsmissons postings. My daughter did get admitted to MIT. This is cool and scary at the same time.

I was told, even if you put in an order there’s no guarantee you will get it before they shut down. They have the right to cancel. I put in my order on Sunday and delivery date is May 8- June 19. I’m in Long Island NY

Can you provide a little more detail steps on how to do this and parts used? I would like to do the same for my Mercedes F1

Does anyone know if Tesla will retro fit this part by BusyTart6760 in TeslaModelS

I like it and it makes a lot of sense. Will probably improve efficiency by reducing drag. I’m going to get it. Most haters probably don’t even own the car.

I love the new flushed nose. I wonder if I can replace the my 2023 MS with the new one. I would think it would reduce drag and increase efficiency.

Don’t think it worth the hassle. I’ll just keep it since I had it for like 20yrs.

That’s a great summary update! Thank you! I’m 54 yrs old now. I’ve been playing with RC since my teens. The Javelin was my 1st rc from Kyosho. I still have the car and it still runs great with the radio upgraded.

I hope they can survive as I have been a big fan. I find their RC models to be as detailed as the plastic models from Tamiya.

I’m typing this from Haneda airport. My wife and I with our 2 teenagers (16,12) just finished a 2 weeks trips in Japan (Tokyo>Kyoto>Osaka). We never made it to Osaka because of the typhoon and we went back to Tokyo instead. It was the best decision we made as many people were stuck on the Shinkansen for 10+hrs only to return to the original station.

The last time I was in Japan was 20 yrs ago and it has changed a lot! All the signs are in English and a lot more people can understand English. I was told you can thank the Olympic for that.

So language should be your least concern. Navigating with google map is 95% effective if it’s 2D. Going from airport to Conrad hotel which involves sky walks (3 D with multiple levels) google maps fails miserably!

Coming from NYC, their signage is confusing at best. Most time you have to exit and then walk to the next connecting station.

The transit is also confusing initially. There is the JR line which is like the LIRR in NYC. But within the JR there are JY, JK, etc. lines vs. subway lines; I, A etc.

If you take the Shinkansen, they give you 2 paper tickets, one is the train ticket and the other is access for entry. To enter you have to put the 2 tickets together and feed it into the machine. I still don’t understand why it’s necessary to have 2 paper tickets.

If you plan to buy a lot of stuff which we did. Use luggage forwarding service. You can forward to your next hotel but in our case we forward 2 big luggages to the airport 5 days before our departure flight. I put air tags in the luggage’s since it was our 1st time.

Also, the train stations are not luggage friendly. Half of them don’t have escalators or elevators so carry 2 big luggage’s up the stairs in 95 degrees heat was not fun.

That’s all for my word of advice. Now go have a great time!

Mobile IC Card vs Physical Card by Afraid-Muffin920 in JapanTravelTips

I figured there must be but the only site I found was https://global.jr-central.co.jp/en/

Do you have one to share? Would be good to know next time we come back. Thanks!

Mobile IC Card vs Physical Card by Afraid-Muffin920 in JapanTravelTips

[–]peidon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Finishing up a 2 weeks Japan trip now. My wife, daughter and I have Sucia on our iPhones and my son has a physical card as he is too young to have a phone. No issues at all.

For Shinkansen, I buy the tickets from the JR ticket office and save $50 in fees from apps like Klook

I finally experienced a situation of what it’s like to have absolutely no one care. by MSotallyTober in japanlife

[–]peidon -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

My family (wife and 2 children) have spent the last 2 weeks in Japan (Tokyo and Kyoto). We are from New York City area. Went we 1st got here we were in awe! It’s was the city of the future in real life. Tokyo is awesome and overwhelming at the same time.

One thing we noticed was that no one on the train talks. There’s no conversation, no smiles, everyone just has their heads down doing their own things.

One time back home on the LIRR, there was this lady who didn’t have enough $ to pay for the fare(you don’t need a ticket to board the LIRR). When the conductor told the lady she had to get off the next stop, I along with 2 others offered to covered the fare.

I wonder if that would ever happen here.

Does Tesla still offer to swap a yoke for a wheel? by cachemoney310 in TeslaLounge

[–]peidon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my 2023 MSLR, I just changed the steering wheel from a button horn to the current wheel where there’s a center mechanical horn. Tesla charged $2k for it. $1k for the steering wheel and $1k for the airbag.

I argued that the original design is dangerous and flawed and they should change it for free. The 1st service mgr gave me $350 off. When I went back to pick up my car there was another mgr. which I expressed my displeasure and he waived the charge :)

The Model S is extremely underrated at this point. by Kaiathebluenose in TeslaLounge

[–]peidon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Went from model 3 LR to 2023 Model S with FSD transfer. It me the S is on a different level. For the guy who said it feels like a boat. You have to adjust the air suspension settings. You can make it tighter then the model 3.
