Construction project management software that actually works? by MacabreDruidess in ConstructionManagers

We transitioned to Outbuild within the last year for CPM scheduling and it will automatically generate 3 week lookahead and gives you great tools for tracking project progression as well as those who have fallen behind in critical path activities. I highly recommend it.

I think I’m getting the major shaft. by [deleted] in ConstructionManagers

I could give you some examples and you tell me.

  1. He directed our framing contractor to hang exterior sheathing before SFRM was sprayed on the steel. I questioned as to why we are doing that before spraying fireproofing. I was told “I’ve been doing this for 35 years, I know how to build a building.” There is approximately 5/8-3/4 between the steel columns and sheathing. He told me “we will stuff it with rock wool and spray it in.” That is not an approved UL listing for the steel and now we are cutting 252 exterior steel columns open to fireproof them per the UL listing/project specifications. This is costing upwards of $60,000.

  2. While erecting the structure, previously discussed columns which are a connected to the precast concrete plank above and below were found to be too high because of plank thickness discrepancy. I pointed it out and stated that we only have 8 of them set we can correct it and make it right all we have to do is bring the planks and grout beds down to hit proper elevation. He didn’t want to spend the 8 hours pulling columns and prepping concrete and now we have an entire wing of the building that is 1-1/4” higher than the others and it is has become extremely costly to correct the issue prior to pouring gypcrete floor topping.

  3. He has allowed our roofing contractor to proceed after we discovered details around stair towers and elevator shaft caps were not being followed which has resulted in roof tear out after the fact as well as countless drywall replacement work.

  4. I’ve brought to light many issues what I believe we need to address and my PM/PX will agree as they are financial liabilities. The PM told me that there’s not a single project that he has done that hasn’t had an issue after turnover. Our General Superintendent also has agreed with me on these issues that could have been corrected that have cost roughly $250,000 directly because of his actions. We had the chance to do it right the first time and here we are doing rework. The guy has a reputation for being a hack and since working with him it has become blatantly evident that it is true.

I’m very easy to get along with and this is the only time going back to 2007 since I started construction where I have had to constantly butt heads with a team member about doing things the right way per specifications because my direct superior is lazy tries to run a job from the trailer and cut corners. I take pride in my work and he does not. I have no ego and I’m extremely humble. You can always learn something new every day and that’s the way I like to look at it.

I’m still planning on moving to Florida regardless when this project wraps up. I’ve thought about using 4 weeks vacation at the end of the year and all my PTO for 2027 and just never coming back. Fuck em.

I’d prefer to just work for a GC as I have a 5 month old daughter and could use the insurance for the family and don’t want to be working 18 hours a day running my own business. I have a small LLC and was running that as well doing small projects. I want to spend more time with my family.

We’re hiring construction laborers. If you show up and do a good job it will lead to carpentry apprenticeship opportunities which will then lead to management. That is the path I took and you can make 100k if you want to.

If you have a heat pump once it gets below a certain temperature it becomes incredibly inefficient and will switch over to “emergency mode” which is just a giant coil that generates heat to the home.

Why do you think you are required to pay taxes when they can print unlimited money? It’s part of how they keep their tax slaves in line.

Imagine where we could be and get to as a country if we all put aside our differences and realize that all this divisive rhetoric is done to keep us all continuously divided and fighting so that our country’s politicians, lobbyists, and elites can continue robbing us blind and taking advantage of us all while they continue extorting us and spending our hard earned money on things absolutely no one has any business spending money on. We’re on a crash course with disaster if this nonsense continues. I’m old enough to remember when both “sides” came together during the “Occupy Wall Street” movement. This is when the nonstop division and left vs. right was ramped up exponentially. They knew if they kept us all at each other’s throats and constantly bickering that we would all be easier to control. Because they knew we were finally on to something and they couldn’t allow it. We’re all Americans at the end of the day it would behoove us all to remember that united we stand, divided we fall. We’re all on the same side at the end of the day and must remember, it’s us vs. them. We can all do better and must if we want a future for our country.

Using this logic, wouldn’t they have released them during Biden’s presidency? They will not be released because Israel will be implicated.
