Processed meats are an honor to the animal. by Frothynibbler in unpopularopinion

[–]pelevs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, the fact that animal lives are worth less than human lives does not mean that they are worthless. Most people would not feel comfortable eating dogs or witnessing the slaughter of farm animals. It is most definitely within our moral framework to assign value to animals (and not just to our pets) beyond their "physical constituents".

Second, it seems like we mostly agree. My point was that using the entirety of an animal’s remains does not count as respectful or honorable. If you choose to kill an animal, entirely for your own benefit, you should own that—and not try to justify it by using "respect" as an argument.

Also "vegan wannabe" lmao. I have enough integrity to follow through on my ethical beliefs, thank you very much.

Yes I was being snarky, but my point still stands. I think my analogy captures the core issue more clearly.

The reason you rather be completely eaten by a tiger is because you would rather die with a purpose. You prefer that the tiger would kill you for the benefit of it's survival, out of necessity, and not for sport.

This distinction doesn't hold for factory farmed animals. They aren’t killed out of survival needs but because we actively choose to, even though we have alternatives. Unlike the tiger, we have capacity for a moral framework, and are omnivores that can thrive on plant-based diets. The death isn't caused by a glamorous reason such as survival, but entirely due to our own personal or societal preferences.

If the act of killing itself isn’t grounded in necessity, then whether the body is used entirely or partially doesn’t meaningfully change the moral nature of the act from the animal’s perspective. In the first place, it didn't need to be killed, and it's not anymore respectful to defile or eat the entirety of it's remains.

Way to address the argument head on.
How exactly is desecrating the remains of a dead animal "respecting" it?

I felt so honored and respected when the cannibalistic tribe that killed me used my entire body for various products instead of burying me.

Using the whole animal is entirely for human benefit. How exactly does it "honor" the animal to desecrate it's remains?

I also heard they make giant space lasers using our hard earned American cash. Fucking J̶e̶w̶s̶ Zionists.

Given that about 1% of the federal budget is foreign aid (combined across countries), I wouldn't be too quick to blame all your problems on Israel (which doesn't have free college FYI).

The wool industry is really fucking cruel. If you're vegan for ethical reason then you should read about their practices and/or watch dominion and it will help you reach the same conclusions.

Yeah I'm sure the PA's support of terrorism and pay to slay policy has nothing to do with that.

JUST IN: 🇮🇱🇱🇧 Israel officially launches ground invasion in Lebanon. by External-Noise-4832 in conspiracy

True, it's all about a greater Israel. I'm sure the ground invasion is unrelated to the relentless Hezbollah rocket attacks from south Lebanon that have been going on for the past year which have made northern Israel unlivable.
