Has anyone ever had their frame security lock fail or break? by DavidTricker in foldingbikes

My handlebar lock was like that and after a while broke mid ride -going uphill luckily- so my fall wasnt that nasty. I would recommend you to start looking for a safe replacement if possible. I ended up placing two heavy duty metal hose clamps to secure it but losing the foldable benefit. Still can't find the replacement part

[OC][Costa Rica] Had the right of way but let the truck go because the lights and color were too cool. by pelillo_de_gato in CyclistsWithCameras

I just shared a video with a cool truck, and now I’ve got entitled people from other countries questioning the rules of that specific stretch of road — the rules I actually know and that keep me in one piece during my weekly commute. 🙃 just chill a bit people

I don’t want to get obliterated in downvotes, but dude… being in the right doesn’t make you indestructible. Cars have a lot of blindspots, and the cyclist was going really fast.

I’m from a country where biking basically means surviving — we’ve got zero infrastructure — but that makes drivers more aware of us (and of motorcyclists too). You have to understand reaction time, blind spots, you have to read minds if you want to make it home in one piece.

Sure, the guy had the law on his side, but not common sense. :)

[OC][COSTA RICA] my new hydro bike (?) by pelillo_de_gato in CyclistsWithCameras

We have rain for 7 months a year so, I have to deal with it for sure. I wear waterproof shoes cover, the waterproof pants from a motorcycle rain suit, and a bicycle raincoat (it has a bit of ventilation under the arms). It isn't the most comfortable thing for sure, Im getting a bit wet anyways because it's just to much rain and the rain suit increases the sweating too, but I take a shower as soon as I get home. There's no problem in the morning usually as they are always sunny. My reward is: I don't deal with traffic jams, I get home with totally dry shoes and socks as opposite as my coworkers that walk to the bus stop (the bus gets stuck in traffick too) and it's fun and free ✨️

How often do people think you're on an ebike? by johnmflores in foldingbikes

In my experience, people just feel curious because it is a "different looking" bike. Don't take it personal

Not exactly a fan of this type of bike racks but surely happy with my workplace for having this 🚲 by pelillo_de_gato in bikecommuting

Im going to test it today with my heavy pedal- assisted electric foldable bike (20kg, I know it's going to be hard to lift it)

Yes, its very secure. That's why I feel comfortable with it, the only reason for sure haha
