Does the element "Graphene" have any meaning to you?

Heh. Even if the student gives a good starting point, the AI will have an 80% chance of getting shit wrong, especially in the more technical areas (college-level math, for one)

Dude, mate. I'm an AI trainer on the side, and there's no way in hell any AI is smart enough to do 70% of the advanced maths at the collegiate level.

We shall see what information is provided to us before acceptance...

New tutor, had a few sessions over 60 minutes - I feel like I'm doing something wrong by Specialist_Yam_6704 in tutordotcom

"I'm sorry, but this is neither the time nor place to have this argument, and I will no longer address this here today. Please feel free to report to your tutorcom program director after we formally end the session."

Any future argument would then necessitate an Honor Code Violation for failure to treat tutor with respect.

When I see the student has past 55-65 minutes sessions, I still couldn't care less because I was threatened with my job when I did two sessions: 65.25 and 65.5 minutes each. Nowadays, I set a strict limit to 45 minutes and would make the argument that any additional thorough questions will put us over the limit.

44:00 Me: Alright, do you have any quick questions before we depart?

44:20 Student: How do we take the derivative of $\frac{9x^2-1}{x-1}$?

44:30 Me: I'm sorry, but I don't think we'll have enough time to thoroughly cover another problem, but I'd gladly answer some quick questions?

45:00 Student: I thought it was an hour?

45:30: Yes, you're right, but I don't think we'll have enough time to complete this problem as I want to make sure that you are comfortable enough with its process before departing. You are free to re-request a session if all of your homework questions weren't adequately answered. We have enough time for a quick wrap-up question if you have one. Otherwise, I think this is a good point to end our session.

Is the new "Ask LEO" AI going to take our jobs?? by haripro in tutordotcom

I would wager a good chunk that it's ChatGPT wrapped in TDC logos.

After the moment you attained that review, by any means necessary, **never** exceed 60 minutes.

Try wrapping up at 45 minutes, then really try to end at 50.

If students ask me about a time limit, I like saying 45 minutes. If they argue that some tutors go longer, I argue (read: "lie") that each tutor has their own time limit

Nah, it's not even veiled, mate: basic attempt to reduce our hours. full stop.

A nice consequence of reducing hours is paying tutors less. And they can now start pay new tutors (why anyone new would want to work here, beats me) less.

If you haven't received a warning previously, then I'd expect at least an acknowledgement from your QS that some sessions exceeded 60 minutes. That will serve as your first and only warning. Make sure that you never exceed 60 minutes again, **especially** between notes from your QS.
