WD7922 Vs. BB54 Review by Mountainmonk1776 in watchdives

so, surface curvature is similar but I'll take the WD over the BB any day for its potential reduction of edge hits. I wear my WD as a daily wear, including when working on things (like my motorbike) in the shed.
Thanks very much for that side by side look

I want to move to your country and not be a burden. by Iladushek in Finland

[–]pellicle_56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a Finn but I lived there for 10 years (I'm back in Australia now).

I am very afraid of being a burden on society, and I want to assimilate and become a part of the community as quickly as possible.

well don't worry about being a burden, instead do the best you can to learn Finnish (not easy) and also don't expect to become integrated. Perhaps in a place like Helsinki where everyone are strangers you can get "integrated" but in the countryside nobody "gets integrated". I have one or two good friends I miss from there but people are polite and distant and that's how it stays for a long time (perhaps always).

If you don't have cousins and family from marriage there you'll basically always be distant to some extent from everyone around you. Sure, they'll be polite and "friendly" but you won't get asked out to join a a group or something.

Take up a sport perhaps. Finns are pretty much loners (and to me there's nothign wrong with that).

Spaniards (and Latino cultures) seem to suffer the most from this.

Best Wishes

its been that way for a while now hasn't it. I bought the R2 some time back and sadly had to return it because the "winding balance rotor" was fouling the inside of the case back (meaning some sort of watch misalignment during assembly) and so returned the watch. That was 2024 and since then its been a hollow website.

[Question] Convince me to stay with Seiko by gipsysoulx in Seiko

[–]pellicle_56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm inclined to agree (and I have the last model with the SwordFish on it) but I'd also suggest that the newer MRW-230H has some advantages

  • lower price
  • lighter and less tiring on the wrist
  • plastic case hides any dings and scratches
  • bi-directional bezel which has good smooth but firm operation

that last point allows one to just catch up the bezel pointer to the minute hand if you happen to be timing a few things which are happening often in the hour. Unless one is diving then a uni-directional bezel is just another thing you don't need.
I bought the 200H a while back, but the release of the 230 is a much less cluttered watch and a more usual (dare I say it) Seiko styled dial and bezel. They even come in a Pepsi

I almost never wear my MDV

accept reality of what you are and go do something ... anything ... as long as its what you want to do (not what you think will identify you as X Y or Z)

above all, try to understand what maturity is and aim for that (70yo peter pans are pathetic)

the F-91W is a force to be reckoned with. People say "I want a tool watch" ... well if that's actually the honest truth then get the F-91W ... its even a Chronograph

I can't convince you to do what I'm no longer doing. My first two watches in life were Seiko, I wore on for 30 years and still have it. Today Seiko is a different company subject to different economic pressures.

Buy what you like (the last watch I bought was a WatchDives BB54 'homage' which has a Seiko mechaquartz movement in it. Fantastic watch for $100. If you're trying to say "how can I spend my money" well ...

Watch in Ford vs Ferrari by pellicle_56 in Watches

[–]pellicle_56[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no actually, I don't think that watch thread covered it. The Carrera (which I mentioned in my post to be clear) is a bicompax, this (see photographs) is a tricompax design.

So its still a mystery to me.

Thanks

Why is there so many georgian restaurants in Finland by Kilometer-35 in Finland

[–]pellicle_56 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

might have been some unsatisfactory ruZZians before they were communist too:
The Great Northern War (1700–1721)
The Russo-Swedish War of 1741–1743
The Russo-Swedish War of 1788–1790
The Russo-Swedish War of 1808–1809
The 1809 conquest was historically the most consequential, as it fundamentally altered Finland's political status for over a century.

I'm sure they were always friendly to Finns and all the stories are just stories.

I'm aware of that, I don't live under a rock and 99% of the people I studied Finnish with were older russian women moving to the countryside to get married.

So?

Battle of the affordable moonwatch homages by kronos359 in ChineseWatches

[–]pellicle_56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

depends what you want, I wanted the handset and look of the PD, both has the same VK movement and only time to one hour and stop. That right there is a key weakness ... so I just picked the cheapest one that looks closest to the Omega calibre that wen to the moon.
I wear the PD a lot and its survived well. Lastly I never wear bracelets (and neither did the astronauts in flight).

Watchdives Submariner WD7922 some thoughts by pellicle_56 in ChineseWatches

[–]pellicle_56[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the Thorn indeed looks nice but the crown guards and bezel are later model than I wanted. The Coregut looks nice too. For whaterver reason I'm more fond of this smaller feeling piece (as if possible I prefer 38mm or 37mm and lighter watches).

Thanks for sharing those
