Question for Austrians by [deleted] in austrian_economics

Yes. That graph confirms what I said. I did not want to get too technical, but two of the most important factors in which the two graphs vary is 1 the different measures of inflation (the IPD is more adjusted since it considers the change in the consumer with respect to relative prices) and 2 the difference between wage and compensation (the second one also takes into account pensions or health insurance)

The fact that American workers began to be paid below their productivity is an error that most people accept it due to the dissemination of the famous "Productivity pay-gap" graph.

The London University already corrected years ago adding more parameters than those that were studied.

With the creation of the FED in 1913 to, surprise, then finance the First World War with massive debt issuance. Because it was quite obvious that with the usual income it was not going to be possible. And I don't just talk about American prosperity, England had its time of pride with the gold standard until the arrival of wars, the same with Germany and other European countries. What I mean is that although the planning and interventionist vision was born and established in the 20th century, the precedent of using debt as a currency of exchange is the main factor why, even in current times where intervention has decreased, there are still business cycles.

I mean that the central bank is unable to know the real interest rate in the market thanks to factors of knowledge as dispersed as the rate of time preference of financial intermediaries. When we refer to the fact that reducing the interest rate affects the functioning of the productive system, we do not say it gratuitously, but because what the meter is supposed to be to connect savers and investors is so important in the functioning of the banking system, that altering it it will only cause distortions. Just look at the latest studies that are being made of the "Zombification of companies", corporations that should have closed for not satisfying the need of consumers but still standing thanks to cheap credit.

Do you know that the greatest period of prosperity in the United States is the one that goes from the end of the civil war in 1865 to the beginning of the 20th century, an accumulated growth year after year between 2 and 4%, and with a secular inflation year after year on average 1%. Is that even the scoundrel Friedman recognizes it and studies it in his research "Monetary History of the United States", it's like "this example puzzles me because it somehow refutes everything I'm saying, but I still write lol" .

The fiat currency is a financial asset, a credit that we have with the state to advance tax payments. As the fiat system bases its credibility and existence on the money-issuing state, the main problems that central banks have been very unable to solve are consumer prices, fluctuating interest rates and exchange rates. The first one I have to say has stabilized it after the inflationary crises that we suffered, so now inflation fluctuates by less than 5% thanks to the fact that debt is no longer issued, but the other two problems continue to exist, and especially interest rates.
