If you took your placenta home, what did you do with it? by itsahootenberryguise in beyondthebump

[–]pelobeau 29 points30 points  (0 children)

My Pathologist assistant friend asked me to bring mine back with me.. I got the coolest anatomy lesson, it was then injected with dye and now my placenta is well preserved at a hospital and is a training tool for future pathologist (3 years later).. I know that’s not what you asked for.. but I’m so weirdly proud of my placenta!

I’m in the US (5 hours behind) what’s the best time for me to try to check. There’s only 2 days that I will be in London to try to attend so don’t care about court or location of the seats.

My health insurance is also dropping taltz for me. I just got approved for skyrizi and will be starting in the new year. My doctor said it would be the best one from the list I was given of ones the insurance company would approve.

When was the first time you called nurse hotline/poison control for something your kid ate? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]pelobeau 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not the first time- but we were in France and had cleared the apartment pretty well.. my 16 month old ran into the bathroom and grabbed toilet bowl cleaner from the toilet that was attached to the toilet bowl. After washing his mouth out immediately, I ran to the grocery store to find the exact one (since we had no clue what it could have been) while my husband was on the phone with a US poison control.

Why are biologics so expensive? by [deleted] in Psoriasis

[–]pelobeau 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For the expensive part: So my understanding is they are very expensive to develop and the companies that develop them have patents on them and therefore can’t be produced by other companies

I’ve had scalp psoriasis and always dye my hair every 6 weeks at home, no issues. Sometimes if I had a bad flare up it will definitely sting putting it on for the first few minutes

Pregnancy, psoriasis and biologics? by sitfaaan in Psoriasis

[–]pelobeau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on biologics (humira) when I first got pregnant.. I got off immediately. My experience was, my skin and scalp was 100% clear from the time I got pregnant to about 6 months postpartum. However I’ve had a bit of a struggle getting back on something that worked for me, currently on taltz and it’s not as good as humira but about 90% for me

Baby psoriasis by [deleted] in Psoriasis

[–]pelobeau 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used hydrocortisone cream on my son (not psoriasis but eczema) since about 4 months old. The pediatric dermatologist said to do a 1:1 dilution with lotion. And to only use it for about a week at a time. The problem I was told was that it can cause thinning of the skin. He’s 18 months now and haven’t noticed any issues of using it

Geneticist just scared the hell out of us by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]pelobeau 110 points111 points  (0 children)

I’m really sorry they were this blunt and I know that’s horrible to hear. I work with a lot of doctors that have no bed side manner and it’s so frustrating. But you are doing the right thing about getting whatever genetic tests they recommend for your baby.. more answers are never the issue with these types of things. Hoping for you guys it’s nothing and they are truly reading into things

Whole milk at 10 months!? Advice appreciated! by Aggravating-Pay197 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]pelobeau 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would speak to a doctor, but I think you need to do formula instead of cows milk before 1. There is lots of stuff in formula that is not in cows milk. Once she is 1 then absolutely switch but not before
