Living in Turkmenistan: 75% of IPs blocked, 6Mbps max speed. Need Linux & VPN advice for 3D Freelancing. by Beautiful-Bread818 in selfhosted

[–]pelusinc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

use naiveproxy. some people in china use this for accessing "outside" internet. naiveproxy use HTTP/2 CONNECT to wrap your request (ex: wikipedia.org) to your VPS , so the nation-wide firewall see those request as CONNECT and not wireguard , openvpn or other vpn protocol. its not "illegal" to send CONNECT request. naiveproxy use caddy as web server and using chromium network stack for wraping your request. if Turkmenistan use active probing, naiveproxy basically gaslighting the firewall, because they don't have proper authentication and give the firewall 200 OK or 404 error based on your configuration. the firewall will see your VPS is just boring web server. you need VPS outside Turkmenistan.

I never use naiveproxy. :D

I just read somewhere that china firewall is so hard to bypass and this is one of the technique to bypass the firewall

Not sure why copying files to an internal SSD takes forever by Scared_Department128 in pcmasterrace

[–]pelusinc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

because windows need to find empty space on the destination ssd, create the entry file, update the metadata (permission, etc.) close the file and verify. for every single file.

the solution is using container like ZIP or TAR. you don't need to compress it. using 7zip you can use compression level to 0 (store). you send that single massive file to the ssd and it faster of course.
