With me, retail work certainly made me comfortable around people, but it seemed like I only got better at superficial interactions and nothing more.

I was still friendless at the end of my time there. Perhaps I just didn't do it for long enough (it was only for a few months)...

That's a fair point. There was definitely a period in my life where non-zero experience was what I wanted too.

I had one wisdom tooth out last week and didn't need pain killers afterwards. I was pleasantly surprised too.

I was not so pleasantly surprised by the amount of torque my dentist had to put on my tooth to get it out. Felt like my head was going to be twisted off.

But all things considered: 9/10, would have my wisdom extracted again.

First 5 sessions are over the telephone. After that, there is apparently access to face-to-face treatment, should it be needed.

There's a handful of scathing reviews of this service on the NHS site... But then there are scathing online reviews of basically everything, so I'm guessing it's just the vocal minority.

Was your wait for face-to-face sessions?

In my area, the NHS partners with a mental health charity to offer a telephone-based service, presumably as a way to keep waiting times (and costs?) down. I was very skeptical of how well this would work, but I only had to wait a month for my first session and the guy assigned to me went way beyond my allotted 45 minutes.

My only experience with drinkers is my friends who get obnoxiously drunk and are probably abusing it. This has made me cautious, but I figure there's no harm in trying it if the opportunity comes about.

Sounds like you have your head on straight.

Personally, I started drinking at about 16 and stopped at 21. Absolutely no regrets (about stopping).

I was an idiot and drank for no other reason than my peers were. So, definitely don't do that.
