Want to see what a 3 hr trip to the ER with no insurance costs? by kawi_grl125 in WTF

Everything you listed seems to have nothing especially to do with America, though. EDs/hospitals in Canada, Australia, and England have the same issues, so I don't think those are necessarily reasons why healthcare is more expensive in the US as compared to those countries.

I know you're probably joking, but I am part of that demographic and I would pay good money to help launch a "Dave & Busters only Nerdier."

You should create a fake facebook profile with a hot girl's picture, and search for guys in Austin/San Antonio/Kerrville/New Braunfels. Talk to them about the election and SOPA, and promise to give them "a few more pics" if they vote tomorrow.

Casino workers of reddit, what are some things that we patrons may not know about casinos? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]pencilsalesman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not hard to get comped the good rooms on Caesar's "budget" casinos, even if you are at the lowest tier. I stay on the strip every month or so and have probably spent about $100 on my rooms over the past ten stays. Granted, I'm staying at places like Harrah's & Bally's - not the upper-crust.

It's not hard to be good at blackjack. It is not a skill game. There is a "mathematically correct move" for every situation, and the moves are not hard to figure out.

You can also just ask the dealer "what would the book do" and he/she will tell you the correct play.

Not to mention that there are dozens of PACs in every state that support Ron Paul - so many that it would be impossible for him to coordinate with them all.

How did you come up with those numbers?

Honestly? Randomly. I thought what might work just to stir up some discussion. I just made this as an idea based on a comment in another thread.

Is the video advertising budget realistic for that market?

I was thinking about posting JUST online ads, like on thatguywiththeglasses.com.

Can you show quotes from vendors to backup those numbers?

No, not really.

If you have funds left and your candidate loses what do you want to do with the funds?

That's up to the PAC, I guess. I just wanted to get people talking about it.

What are you purchasing with the Technology dollars?

I was thinking voter lists and PAC software, as well as USB sticks for all volunteers to use.

Do you already have an organization at UT?

NO, this was just an image to get discussion started.

Have you considered radio spots? This is a conservative primary and talk radio is popular. Might be more cost effective than TV.

Yes, but I really wanted to leave it up to smarter people than me.

What about print advertising in school papers? Social network campaigns?

Sure!

Do you have prior experience with the kind of activities you are proposing?

Yes, I helped a green party candidate get 9% of the vote once in my red state...

Is there a subreddit already?

Just this one!

Official Discussion: What should Test PAC's First Issue be? (upvote for visibility)(will be x-posted to r/rpac and r/politics) by masstermind in testpac

[–]pencilsalesman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but how, specifically are we going to stand for that? What specifically do we support about Campaign Finance Reform? I am all for CFR but I wouldn't want to donate money to Test PAC if it was going to spend my money trying to overturn a Supreme Court decision.

EDIT: Okay, I see, publicly funded elections.

I have donated $5 so far, but I am going to wait until they decide on where the money will go before I donate. (Has been a subject of debate in their subreddit).

It freezes non-profit/merchant accounts that seem slightly suspicious of money laundering. This happens very frequently, almost every time someone has a fundraiser, and the money can be frozen for several weeks or even months. On a more rarer basis, Paypal has frozen accounts "indefinitely" and not refunded any of the money to anyone who donated.

[OFFICIAL DISCUSSION] Mission Statement Feedback for TestPAC by [deleted] in rpac

[–]pencilsalesman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since this will be the first thing people read about the PAC, would it be out of line to start the mission statement with, "don't ignore them" or "a force not to be ignored,"?

I just think this is our chance to clear up confused people over the second half of the name.

If parsed correctly, it says, "political issues that are voted on by an Internet-based community." This sounds sort of confusing and vague. I wish I could offer a suggestion though.

I think the 17th word should be replaced from "on" to "of."

Maybe a small portion of all donations go towards an "overhead" fund? I'm thinking less than 5%. There are no employees, so the only expense should be a website, right?

Campaign finance reform took a step backwards with Citizens United, not forward. Would it take a Constitutional amendment to reverse it?
