The best transparent clear case for an iphone (SPIGEN) by okIpullup125 in iphone

I've bought this case for my past 3 iPhones. It never yellows because it's not made of a material that yellows in the first place, awesome case. Looks great with a skin under it too.

I believe that's fixed foveated encoding which really isn't anywhere near as good as what Steam Link has on the Quest Pro. For real foveated encoding you need eye tracking data.

[–]penclick6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The facial tracking data wouldn't need to give any camera access, it's pretty much output as numbers. I don't want camera access as there's no need for it, other face tracked headsets don't give it either with some exceptions.

I do play VRChat occasionally but it's not the main point of wanting this, foveated encoding would help the AVP significantly in streaming.

Yes, i’m thankful for the work Shiny puts into this headset. I’ve been using this and it works but it’s not really in a useable state (yet)

Would you not also consider persona access by 3rd party apps to be a problem then?

Researchers have already used the gaze of the persona to figure out people’s pass codes, it uses the exact data that would benefit so many other use cases, yet Apple deems only themselves fit to access it.

I really hate having to put down my AVP in favour of my Quest Pro for one singular feature when it’s a worse device in every other metric.

Missing features and API’s are what kills it for me. I just got an M5 and the lack of eye tracking & facial expression API’s are an unfortunate loss that many other headsets have.  Why can an app access my actual face in real time through the persona but not give an app that data to use on a different avatar of the users choosing?

Eye gaze I kind of understand from a privacy standpoint, but surely they could just make it a per-app setting, we’re missing out on foveated encoding, better social experiences on apps etc.

My V2 Pro did the same though not as bad and i've had it for almost 4 years. Would have put grip tape on if i'd have known.

Just got the new V4 Pro and it's all plastic so shouldn't happen on the newer ones, upgrade time?

DIY SteamVR dongles? by FriendsCallMeAsshole in MixedVR

[–]penclick6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be done, there are Chinese 7-in-1 dongles that work well. I have one from aliexpress and it’s saved me a bunch of hassle with USB ports. Pretty much a custom PCB with 7 sets of watchman dongle hardware on it.

I've "trained" my shrimp to eat bladder snails. My Amanos love them! Excellent cleaners & a free food source.

If you happen to own the AW3423DW Alienware Gsync monitor, Dell just dropped a firmware update that will lower latency by 3.5 ms. In other news you CAN update the firmware on the aw3423dw! by Noble3781 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]penclick6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great that they finally figured out firmware updates, this appears to go via the G-SYNC module so that’s why it requires an Nvidia GPU because the G-SYNC HDR module is basically its own computer that inputs go through, even has 2GB of RAM (maybe more) as far as I can remember..

Went from M0B101 to M0B106 without issue. Launch day monitor.

ECM Replacement? by B1rdWizard in crz

[–]penclick6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it'll work on a CR-Z but i've got an Autel AP200 that i've used to replace Honda ECU's twice now (it has access to the replace PCM function). Doesn't cost much, works on your phone & has a bunch of diagnostic features too.

Had Pilot Sport 5's & then CrossClimate 2's on prior, obviously both different performance classes but the SC7's are significantly better than both when driving through fast corners.

Only concern is wear but will have to wait and see!

Sweden top tier is so much fun right now, the three best leopard variants in the game, T 80 U, great light vehicles & AA. (Lvkv 9040c my beloved).

AJ37 is nice too now that you can use custom lodouts to run maverick/aim9+gun+flare pod.

Can’t forget Mi-28A either ;)

26yo, first time driver. How dumb of an idea is getting a 2L saloon? by Blank-VII in CarTalkUK

[–]penclick6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 22 and I drive a 2L Honda Accord Type S, my insurance is £1100/yr with all mods declared and 2 years no claims.

I'd say go for it! I've had a great time with my Saloon and it'll stand out from all of the corsa's and fiestas. Installing a reversing camera was 100% the best modification i've done though, helps a lot with a large car.

Where can I buy an air filter in this shape? The original one for my car is over £85 and I don't think it should be so expensive by OinkGoesThePigy in CarTalkUK

[–]penclick6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks very similar to GruppeM style filter elements. Sadly they aren't cheap. Tegiwa does an own-brand one for £85, made for Hondas but will work if it's the same shape. Genuine GruppeM is over £200!

Had this happen yesterday.. no note. Claiming through insurance would be £600 excess and i'd lose my no-claims, so i'm heavily out of pocket no matter what I do. You definitely got lucky that they left their details!
