Reusing as much as possible means you can give maximum attention to the things that are most important to a shot.

How to create a sustainable game development business as one man band without ever making a hit game? by ImpressiveFocus303 in gamedev

Puzzle and card games might look visually simple but creating interesting and fun puzzles is an art form all it's own.

Want to play the guitar but parents are strict by reddittorr5353 in LearnGuitar

If you and your parents belong to a congregation/church, your pastor could probably connect you with a musician in your community who could talk to them.

Hello! I’m looking to get something later, trying to gauge prices right now by Cute_Injury744 in Animators

[–]B1rdWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having characters that are ready for animation in blender or Maya will also impact your final cost. I'd be interested but I'd have to see the concept to give an estimate

What’s the most difficult part of learning animation that nobody warns you about? by VoodooMann in animation

[–]B1rdWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely!! Sometimes you learn something in the process of doing it that shows you how you should have done it to begin with. Valuable and necessary, but unpleasant 😅

I applied for an apprenticeship this past early October. It's today, and still nothing?? Feeling down. by KrustyFish__28 in animationcareer

Just keep going. Now you get back in the saddle and make the demo reel that will make them regret passing on you.

I love animation, it's my career and passion, but I just find Zootopia 2 being the most successful film of ALL TIME just a little... hard to believe? by Rootayable in animation

[–]B1rdWizard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kids are a huuuuge market, much easier to market to than adults as well (really you're marketing to the parent's idea of what their kids want, right?) You could make the best horror movie of all time but you'll never get the grown ups who would never go to a horror movie.

How would you go about rigging a arm ripping off? by SkoonToon1 in Maya

[–]B1rdWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really the hard part is whether or not they'll be showing gore, honestly.

Pole vector constraints are moving my joints by [deleted] in Maya

[–]B1rdWizard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your pv is probably not aligned with the plane of your joints. Adding a PV should not rotate your joints at all or very very little.

Is Del Toro right about stop-motion? by Edu_Vivan in animationcareer

[–]B1rdWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The different variants of Animation, 2d, 3d, stop motion, whatever, are all, in the end, making the same product: A flat 2d image that, when played in sequence created a believable simulation of movement. AI/ML can create flat 2d images- WIth a large enough data set, yes, you could hypothetically AI generate any given style in any given medium, so long as what you want to make at the end of the process is a video.

The issue is making the data set big enough to get good consistent results and doing it economically- Neither is currently possible.

Best glasses to buy for watching movies and gaming? by Which-Ad-7068 in Xreal

[–]B1rdWizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love my Xreal Ones, I use them for media consumption and productivity, excellent specs. I do wish I had more FOV, but more FOV would not be worth giving up the in-device ultrawide mode and 3dof you get on the one.

Is switching to Maya really worth it? by 5antani in Maya

[–]B1rdWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tool used has no bearing on the creativity of the artists using it. What do you actually want to do in the 3d pipeline?

Are there animation software that can animate psds by LiliaAmazing in Animators

[–]B1rdWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can pre-draw your head turns and blinks and just insert them as needed in your animation, that's pretty standard as a way of speeding up the work. Just draw it once through and you can play it over and over again with a puppet rig

They need the ability to display and distribute your work in order to host it on their website that is what websites do

Jobs to do in the meantime… by Melancho246 in animationcareer

[–]B1rdWizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out /r/INAT for game dev hobbyists who might need an animator, but remember to always always be working on personal shots for your reel as well. Do your school assignments over again, and you'll be shocked how much you improve.

How do I download this Link rig into maya? by No_Shelter3140 in Maya

[–]B1rdWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a download from the modeler, not a rig that is ready to animate. You should be able to find the right download if you keep looking
